The Arc Mid-Hudson, one of the largest employers in the Hudson Valley region, has a full-time opportunity for a Safety and Risk Management Administrator.

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

• Developing, administering, and monitoring a Risk Management or Total Safety Program emphasizing the development of required OSHA and OPWDD programs, standard operating procedures and agency policies involving Life Safety, property conservation and liability issues for the protection of our program participants, employees, and the Agency in general.
• Inspection of facilities, residences, work sites and vehicles for unsafe conditions or unsafe actions, and developing recommendations for safety improvements, corrective measures and risk abatement.
• Providing support to directors and other managers on request or as needed for hazard assessment and abatement.
• Developing and maintaining computerized logs and statistical data for safety functions and accidents.
• Coordinating visits and activities by insurance company personnel and safety consultants, and communications with insurance companies regarding recommendations for risk abatement and safety issues.
• Performing duties as chairperson of the Agency Safety Committee and coordinate the activities of any safety subcommittee including the After Action Group and After Action reports and investigations.
• Perform duties related to hazard communication.
• Review and approve fire drills, site specific safety / evacuation plans, E-scores, and monthly safety checklists for all programs. Monitor and track compliance with regulations and agency safety policies.
• Coordinate, monitor, and maintain records of required safety systems inspections, service and installations (e.g. fire alarm systems, fire extinguishers, sprinkler systems, water testing, etc.).
• Oversee and coordinate various Worker’s Compensation (WC) initiatives
• Conduct accident investigations, including root cause analysis, as needed.
• Assist Staff Training and Development develop and implement OSHA and OPWDD required employee trainings to ensure compliance with regulations.
• Perform proactive audits of agency programs to ensure compliance with agency systems and OPWDD regulations with focus on continuous quality improvement.
• Supervise the Minimal Lift Coordinator and Minimal Lift Program including the Safe Patient Handling Committee.

SCHEDULE: Monday through Friday/days - must be flexible based on needs of programs

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science degree in safety, industrial technology, or related field
• Three (3) years’ experience in the enforcement of employee safety regulations, or a combination of experience and education totaling seven (7) years.
• Experience working under the OPWDD regulatory environment and with people with developmental disabilities a plus.
