RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Assists Production Manager as assigned in the capacity of “responsible individual-operator in responsible charge” for maintaining compliance with monitoring and reporting schedules and parameter limits for water quality. Ensures that all work complies with OEPA and PUCO regulatory requirements for operations. Assist with and/or prepares, submits, and reviews company required reporting and monitoring (inventory, bench sheets, maintenance, records, etc.) Assist with and/or prepares and submits forms for regulatory compliance monitoring within the guidelines of the oversight agencies (Monthly Operating Reports, PUCO, other periodic regulatory reports). Responsible for startup, shutdown, operation and periodic checks of water treatment processes, components and equipment at water facilities using mechanical and computer based controls. Monitors SCADA, analyzes data and adjusts plant operations accordingly to include pumping systems, chemical feeders, and auxiliary equipment, in order to optimize plant operations, storage tank levels and booster station performance. Performs routine preventative and corrective maintenance on equipment. Load and unload chemicals used at the treatment plant. Monitor plant controls and maintain plant records such as operating logs, chemical feeds, temperature, levels, and pressures on various process systems and associated equipment located throughout plant facilities. Collect water samples and perform laboratory tests. Conduct safety inspections and follow safety rules and procedures in accordance with company policies. Leads and directs production personnel in the operation, maintenance, and repair of the water treatment facility and transmission system including pumps, chemical feeders, mixers, filters, laboratory equipment/analysis, booster stations, and storage tanks. Trains new and existing Operators and Operations and Maintenance Department personnel. Available to respond in-person for after-hours, weekends, and or holiday work; backs-up Production Manager as needed. Performs all other duties assigned. EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: Must have a high school diploma or the GED equivalent. Must hold valid U.S. driver’s license. SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED FOR POSITION Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to effectively conduct business with internal and external customers and represent the company. Strong organizational skills with an ability to manage multiple priorities. Excellent computer skills especially with spreadsheet applications and asset management systems. Computational skills with the ability to calculate chemical dosages and determine calibration of chemical feed systems. Basic mechanical skills to maintain large pumps, drives, motors, piping systems, chemical feeders and storage tanks. CERTIFICATION AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS An Ohio EPA Class III Water Supply Certificate. Obtain interim Ohio EPA certification for Chemical analysis (and Microbiological analysis if lab is so certified) within 30 days of hire. Obtain Full Ohio EPA certification for Chemical analysis (and Microbiological analysis if lab is so certified) within 6 months of interim certification Eligible to apply for Ohio EPA Class IV Certification within 12 months of hire.
