JOB TITLE: Purchasing Assistant
DEPARTMENT: Purchasing
REPORTS TO: Jason Bosco –Purchasing and Logistics Manager
DESCRIPTION: The Purchasing Assistant will ensure the procurement of assigned products and services. Responsible for developing sourcing strategies and driving cost reductions. Manage Suppliers to drive continuous improvement and analysis.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
· Purchase goods/services that meet the quantity/quality expectations
· Maintain purchase order data
· Notify Production, Customer Service or Maintenance concerning delays
· Assist with day-to-day purchasing activities
· Track inventory and restock as needed
· Maintain strong working relationships with vendors
· Track and trace product deliveries with issued purchase orders and contact vendors when there are discrepancies
· Work to measure supply inventory and determine purchasing needs based on quarterly and annual numbers
· Review purchasing agreements with vendors and maintain open lines of communication with those vendors
· Work daily in conjunction with other departments including Production, Customer Service, Maintenance, and Logistics to ensure the supply chain process is running smoothly
· Inform vendors of our purchasing requirements including, but not limited to quality, delivery requirements, packaging and markings
· Assist in developing more effective supply chain processes
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
· 1 year experience preferred
· Excellent written and oral communication skills – MS Excel, Word, Outlook
· Problem solving skills
· Basic knowledge of supply chain management in a manufacturing environment
· Negotiation skills a plus
· Knowledge in Logistics a plus
· Strong organization skills
· Detail oriented
· Ability to work well with a team
· Ability to thrive in a high-stress and fast paced environment
· Able to create and administer a task priority list based on company needs
