April Health is Hiring a Pharmacy Clerk Near Palo Alto, CA

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Welcome all customers in a prompt and courteous manner
  • Confirm a patient’s name, date of birth, and address when checking for prescriptions and updating allergies when necessary
  • Operate the register to sell prescriptions and over-the-counter products
  • Proactively maintain the front area as a clean and organized environment for patients to navigate smoothly and safely
  • Direct patients to the consultation area when a new prescription is being sold or when requested by the Pharmacist
  • Interact professionally with customers and escalates issues when necessary
  • Help customers with front end items and medical devices
  • Restock products, medical devices, and prescription drugs as needed
  • Pack orders for delivery
  • Answer inbound calls in a timely manner regarding medication orders, patient care, and general questions
  • Contact patients to inform when prescriptions are ready and collects payment information
  • Act as liaison between patients and the Pharmacist to receive new prescriptions and creates new patient profiles with their information, insurance, and allergies
  • Accurately type prescription information into the computer record system
  • Help organize and file pharmacy records such as prescriptions and invoices

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED required
  • Minimum two years of customer service experience preferred
  • Pharmacy, medical office, or other healthcare experience strongly preferred
  • Ability to positively contribute to the work environment even under pressure
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with a fast turnaround time
  • Strong mathematical reasoning to solve a problem, such as calculating days supply based on prescription directions
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook
