Apollo Scooters is Hiring a Marketing Director Near Montreal,

Company Overview

Apollo Scooters is a North American manufacturer and distributor of electric scooters with a mission to improve lives through innovative transportation solutions. We do this by making getting places cheaper, more environmentally friendly, and enjoyable. We are a small, dynamic team with big ambitions that managed to become a market leader within just 12 months. We are absolutely obsessed with our products and customers and are only getting started. If you are looking for a company at the cutting-edge of innovation, an industry on the verge of a breakout, a work-hard/play-hard environment, and hands-on learning, you’ve found the right place!

Job Overview

We are looking for a Marketing Director who will be the champion of our brand. The key responsibility of this role will be to execute the strategy, communication objectives, and campaigns. They will then be responsible for the translation of these high-level priorities into plans, goals, and metrics. Lastly, they will act as the key point of contact for various stakeholders involved in carrying out the marketing activities of Apollo such as agencies, content creators, and web developers. However, this role is not all high-level strategy - there is a fair amount of ground work required. From finding ways to capitalize on our 30K mailing list, through team meetings, to organizing photoshoots for product launches - this is a demanding marketing position that comes with a department.

The ideal start date would be early October, with a few training sessions prior. Lastly, the scope of the role is open-ended - the responsibilities listed here are the starting point, but we are looking for a candidate who will ultimately take charge and bring our marketing game to the next level. Physically being in Montreal preferred (seeing as its a leadership role), but working remotely is optional too.

Responsibilities

  • Marketing planning - own the marketing lifecycle from product launches, through annual Black Friday sale planning, to brand-building campaigns.
  • Coordination of stakeholders - you are the conductor, ensuring everyone is playing the same song. With many moving pieces (agencies, videographers, designers, and developers), you are at the heart of the action.
  • Brand messaging/communication - you are the guardian of our brand. All outbound communications must be approved by you in order to ensure we’re telling a consistent story across channels and platforms.
  • Website roadmap - as a D2C company, the website represents our storefront. The Marketing Director (together with the E-commerce Manager) is responsible for building out the vision. From features, to CRM, to data management - the website is a critical touchpoint for all customers. It’s your job to turn it into an online experience they won’t forget.
  • Own marketing PnL - with great power comes great responsibility. You are responsible for aligning on the D2C sales budget with the rest of the team and delivering on it. Your levers are media budget and sales/promotions.
  • Reporting - while we don’t care much about reporting for the sake of reporting, we like to look back and see how we could’ve done better. In this fast-paced department, you will work with your team to understand how we can get 1% better every day.

Qualifications

  • 6-8 years of experience - to tell us how to run our marketing, you need to know what you are doing
  • Exceptional attention to detail - the devil is always in the details, especially when dealing with customer facing work
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time - no day will ever be the same, but that means you will need to move quick and focus on multiple projects at once
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability - all of us are here because we are doing the greatest work of our lives and expect you to be equally committed
  • Very fast learner who isn’t afraid to make mistakes - we believe in “good enough” is better than “perfect”, because moving fast is more important than being right
  • Fluency in French preferred, but not mandatory

Benefits & Compensation

  • Competitive salary
  • Flex/Unlimited PTO
  • Personal electric scooter for the duration of summer
  • STM Metro Pass for Winter season
  • Company laptop
  • Dog-friendly office
  • Coffee & snacks
  • Monthly team activities and events
  • Health & Dental Insurance as of 3 months
