APMEX is Hiring a Production Manager Near Edmond, OK

The Mint Production Manager reports to the Director of Mint Operations and is responsible for providing leadership and guidance on the coordination of plant activities through planning with leadership to ensure the manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a safe, timely and cost-effective manner. Additionally, the Production Manager helps establish the APMEX culture at the plant location and assists in identifying and developing the next generation of leaders.

A Day in the Life of a Production Manager:

  • Lead, plan, organize, direct and run optimum day-to-day production operations to exceed our customers’ expectations
  • Drive safety, quality, cost, and delivery while improving engagement.
  • Drive an ownership culture where all employees feel they are an integral part of the business
  • Maintain systems to assure the facility meets all APMEX requirements including commitments, document control, verification, product identification, incident management, building, equipment and security protocols.
  • Review and adjust weekly planned production schedule including daily priorities to ensure resources are efficiently allocated to achieve production and quality goals while maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Initiate strategy and processes which minimize manufacturing costs through effective utilization of manpower, equipment, facilities, materials and capital.
  • Ensure employees understand and are following quality procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices and Lot Control Procedures, as well as customer specifications are met.
  • Identify and resolve problems affecting production, e.g. schedules, inventory, staffing, waste, quality, inaccurate paperwork.
  • Review the work of direct reports and their staff ensuring production, usage, and cost targets are being met. With your team, identify problems affecting production, develop and implement plans to resolve deficiencies while complying with all policies and procedures.
  • Drive lean manufacturing initiatives across each manufacturing area
  • Facilitate identification of process improvements that decrease costs, improve productivity/quality while maintaining a safe operation. This will include identification, plan development, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting on these process improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure employees understand and are following all safety procedures; continuously improve safety by addressing both physical safety issues and developing employee safety awareness.
  • Recruit, mentor, set goals, motivate, evaluate, and coach employees. Develop plans for annual performance and employee development while managing to department budget.
  • Collaborating well with key functions like Operations, Merchandising, Accounting, HR, Quality, IT and other functions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education: Bachelor or master’s degree, typically within Business Management, Operations, Industrial/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering

Experience: Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an industrial manufacturing environment with a deep knowledge of production management

Skills and Abilities:

  • Managerial understanding of the critical success factors in a Manufacturing/Operations environment
  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation
  • Excellent organizational and leaderships skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Have a growth mindset
  • Ability to create accountability and to lead by example
  • Ability to manage resources to ensure continuous improvement, growth, and sustainability of the facility.
  • Strong team building and people leadership skills with the ability to effectively communicate and manage well at all levels of the organization
  • Lean manufacturing experience required, and Six Sigma certification preferred
  • Strong process mindset with demonstrated success in process improvement implementation.
  • Robust problem solving and creative skills, with the ability to exercise sound judgment in making decisions based on accurate and timely analyses
  • Understanding of quality standards and health and safety regulations
  • Experience in reporting on key production metrics
  • Proficient in MS Office and ERP software
