Special Education Teacher

Responsibilities:

• Create, accommodate, and modify the curriculum to align with IEP goals
• Design and implement assessments that measure progress towards academic standards
• Use assessment data to refine curriculum and inform instructional practices
• Execute the school’s student code of conduct with fidelity to create a positive, structured learning environment where students are held to high expectations and empowered to grow academically
• Develop IEP goals and objectives that address students of all ability levels
• Evaluate and monitor student progress through subjective and objective means 
• Design and implement behavior management plans
• Collaborate and work cooperatively with staff to achieve goals and objectives 
• Strong organizational skills and ability to keep and maintain accurate records to meet deadlines

Requirements:

• State of Michigan Teaching Certificate in Secondary or Elementary Education
• State of Michigan K-12 Special Education Endorsement (EI preferred)
