Special Education Teacher

We are currently seeking a Special Education Teacher to teach at an elementary school in Berwyn, IL! The ideal candidate will have experience working in a self-contained setting supporting students with more significant needs. Caseload is 4-5 students supporting within in Functional Developmental Learning Program.

Job Responsibilities of the Special Education Teacher include:

• This role will be held onsite and support students who are also onsite
• Caseload of 4-5 students in a self contained setting.
• Hours: Monday-Friday 8:10am-3:10pm (there are 14 Wednesdays throughout the year where you will stay until 4:30pm for PD)
• Implement Individual Education Programs (IEP) for all students
• Functional Developmental Learning Program
• Monitor student’s progress as it relates to established IEP’s
• Support the learning of every student
• Communicates with students, families, colleagues, and communities effectively and accurately
• Provide a thorough assessment and diagnostic process for an individualized instructional program
• Maintain accurate reports, records, and files on individual students
• Create a well-rounded environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to all students
• Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, teachers, staff, and parents
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications of the Special Education Teacher:

• Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred
• Illinois Professional Educators License (PEL) with Learning Behavior Specialist 1 endorsement (LBS1) required
• Previous experience working with elementary school/middle school students preferred!
• Be able to commute to Berwyn, IL 60402
