Unit Superintendent, Unit Manager-Engineer-Production-PSM
Reporting to the Plant Manager this position has dual responsibility for
Production Engineering and Production Staff Supervision associated with
a Chemical Production Unit. Highlights: Implement production objectives
and report on performance, provide technical support and troubleshoot
assistance, monitor costs associated with production, and lead the unit
personnel.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage and direct the units' hourly personnel, including performance
management, discipline, time and attendance, coordinate with HR on
all personnel performance issues requiring discipline. (5 – 20
reports depending on the unit)
- Schedule and maintain unit manpower ensuring proper placement and
responsible scheduling; including managing the overtime budget
- Maintain employee training and manage training opportunities
- Coordinate unit production activities with other departments on-site
(raw materials usage, product quality, and costs, including
finishing and product changeover, upsets).
- Monitor all costs associated with production, tracks KPI’s, and
issue daily operating notes to ensure production efficiencies;
manage productions schedules, raw materials requirements and
usage, logistics needs and requirements through coordination with
Supply Chain Department.
- Assure safe unit operation, proper handling of raw materials and
finished products, and assure personnel safety training is up to
date and that all employees wear appropriate PPE. Promptly report
all incidents, accidents, and near misses. Coordinate with the EHS
Department.
- Maintain overall product quality and address issues that arise and
coordinate with Quality Department.
- Monitor safety compliance and audits and report results
- Troubleshoot production issues
- Recommend facility upgrades and equipment process improvements and
complete improvement projects. Assist with MOC’s, as needed.
- Provide technical expertise for regulatory compliance.
Qualifications
BACKGROUND REQUESTED
We are searching for an Engineer having experience as a Production
Supervisor or Superintendent in a chemical manufacturing plant that
operates under the OSHA PSM regulations with MOC and PHA policies.
- BS Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering preferred. BS
Chemistry with plant troubleshooting experience Required
- 10 years experience in a chemical plant or related plastics
processing facility
- Strong management skills and prior experience leading hourly
employees including diversity training and working in a
multicultural environment
- Familiarity with basic EH&S policies, procedures, and regulations in
a chemical manufacturing environment
- Strong engineering and mechanical aptitude with excellent problem
solving and troubleshooting skills and knowledge of engineering
principles
- Perceived as a leader with fair and equitable leadership style;
Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with others demonstrating
empathy in dealing with employee issues.
- Must have excellent technical, interpersonal, and communication
skills
- Must be authorized to work for any employer in the USA without
