ANDX is Hiring a Desktop Support Specialist - Part time Near SAN ANTONIO, TX

About the role:

The Desktop Support Specialist is responsible for supporting the technology needs of ANDX employees based out of our San Antonio office, including supporting their equipment, user accounts and any other technical issues that may arise. This role requires occasional work outside of business hours in order to support changes to the environment during periods of low usage.

This is a part time position with weekly hours averaging between 20 to 30 hours Monday through Friday daytime. 

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Maintain desktop and laptop computers running Windows 10, including troubleshooting and resolving errors
  • Support end users via IT helpdesk by answering any questions and resolving any issues they experience, including escalating issues than cannot be resolved locally to management or other members of the IT group
  • Troubleshoot hardware issues with computers, monitors, and other equipment (mice, keyboards, headsets, etc.), and determine if a device should be repaired or replaced
  • Document any technical issues and their solutions in IT management/helpdesk platform
  • Provision new equipment following established standards, including joining computers to Endpoint Manager and ensuring that all security standards have been met
  • Promote and ensure compliance with all established IT policies and requirements, including security and compliance (e.g. PCI, HIPAA, SOC, etc.)
  • Participate in the creation and maintenance of user accounts in Active Directory and Azure Active Directory
  • Configure and troubleshoot VPN connectivity for remote employees who need to our access our network
  • Maintain an inventory of computers, monitors, and other equipment (e.g. keyboards, mice, headsets, etc.). Ensure that sufficient spare units are always available by advising management when more should be ordered.
  • Understand specific client requirements for hardware and applications needed to fulfill their programs and ensure that these requirements are met
  • Engage with local vendors and providers when needed for technical support or issue resolution (e.g. internet providers, equipment vendors, etc.)
  • Provide physical support for other IT equipment (e.g. network equipment, servers, UPS/power equipment, etc.) located on-site at the direction of other members of the IT group
  • Ability to work outside of business hours to support system changes, as required

Qualifications & Skills:

  • 3 years working experience providing Tier 1 and 2 desktop support for Microsoft Windows 10 computers, anti-virus/endpoint protection software, and other common applications (e.g. Microsoft Office, Java, etc.)
  • 3 years working experience troubleshooting hardware issues with computers, monitors, and peripherals
  • Experience creating and maintaining user accounts in Active Directory and AzureAD
  • Experience with Microsoft Endpoint Manager/Intune is an asset
  • Working knowledge of basic networking principles, including diagnosing network issues at the PC and assisting with patching switches
  • Working knowledge of IT equipment, such as network devices, servers, UPS/power devices, etc.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities for interacting with end users and clients effectively
  • Experience documenting all work thoroughly (service and incident requests, change management, system procedures, asset tracking/inventory)
  • Excellent time-management skills and ability to adapt to changes in priorities
