Instructional Designer/Learning and DevelopmentJOB SUMMARY:The Instructional Designer will be a critical member of the Learning and Development Team within Human Resources. This person will work cross functionally and collaboratively with multiple departments and subject matter experts to craft and build engaging and effective learning and development content based on the identified needs of the organization. This is an opportunity to stretch and strengthen design skills, LMS administrative oversight, as well as to hone a deeper understanding of organizational structure and development.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Consults with, and works in tandem with department leadership and subject matter experts on instructional design and learning objectives, understanding learning needs and current challenges. Leads the development of course materials, assessment techniques, appropriate integration of instructional technologies and best practices, both technology and non-technology related. Leads the organization and maintenance of Company training curriculums, ensuring accuracy and constantly seeking improvement Designs and produces learning materials in a variety of formats including print, graphics, audio, video, animation and multimedia to support teaching and learning needs. Creates and deploys computer-based training, interactive e-learning courses and Instructor Led Training courses, modules and materials. Assists users with day-to-day LMS needs including logins, reports, passwords, and general trouble-shooting. Evaluates current and past instructional programs, course content, and instructional methodologies, making suggestions or editing as needed for improvement. Conducting web based instructional training as needed. Participation in group meetings on subjects that interest you for overall company strategizing and engagement. Additional duties related to learning and development as needed, and other duties as assigned. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 2 years instructional design and development work experience. Degree in instructional design, instructional technology or post-secondary teaching discipline. Understanding of LMS systems. Proficiency with Camtasia, Articulate Storyline, or similar design programs is required. TRAVEL: Occasional travel to plant locations to understand training needs and facilitate best plan of action. Total travel: 10% or less LOCATION/HOURS: Remote/office based. Office Headquarters in Auburn Hills, MI Full Time, 40 hours/week KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Independent thinker willing to embrace new concepts and willing to try new methods. Creative and open to creating fresh, innovative content Able to work independently without constant supervision Ability to effectively interact with people. Confident and clear communicator with superior listening skills. Fluid, flexible and comfortable adapting to changing priorities and needs. Demonstrated coaching and mentoring skills. Demonstrated ability to bring structure to complex problems and problem-solving. Demonstrated proficiency using standard office software applications (Microsoft) and web page editors, graphic editing and creation software, basic HTML. Experience with Canva and SurveyMonkey preferred, but not required. Audio/video editing skills. Ability to maintain sensitivity and confidentiality as needed.
