Position Overview The Logistics Specialist position is responsible for logistical coordination of a relatively complex nature. Scope of responsibility could be internal rail/truck fleet management, tracking fleet movement and inbound/outbound commodity; external management of shipping schedules, serving customers by arranging for carriers, rail cars, and/or barges in the shipment of commodity product; or a combination thereof. This position is highly collaborative and shares information internally to optimize efficiency and effectiveness, while delivering extraordinary service. Key Responsibilities Implement and monitor movement and shipping activities which optimize rail fleet utilization and order fulfillment Research and maintain market knowledge and track tariff and regulation changes to make logistics decisions and negotiate terms that are competitive and meet financial, operational and service goals Provide customer assistance in processing of orders/deals, convey pertinent information throughout the process, monitor shipments/fleet movement, and address customer inquiries as to status or issue resolution Manage administrative processes surrounding logistics which could include managing system information and providing reports and data, resolving claims and issues, conveyance of price, bid or deal information, entry of contracts into system, information input and auditing for billing/invoicing, and ensuring proper logistics documentation is obtained/completed Assist with the management of the private railcar fleet for ATP including maintaining current fleet details, filing lease documents, tracking service dates and assisting business units to set up repairs Analyze rail rate around ATP facilities to ensure best in class rates compared to regional competition Share in night and weekend billing with the logistics team What is expected of you and others at this level Performs routine, entry-level assignments Knowledge and exposure to fundamental theories, principles and concepts gained through education and/or experience Develops competence by performing structured work assignments Uses existing procedures to solve routine or standard problems Receives instruction, guidance and direction Minimum Qualifications & Skills Bachelor’s Degree required (or the equivalent in work experience) A minimum of 1-year relevant experience required. Significant and directly relevant college level coursework may offset experience requirement Knowledge of railroad movements as well as understanding key tariffs and railroad rules and regulations highly desired This job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed.
