Amy Kitchen is Hiring a Remote Category Analyst

Summary:
The Category Analyst is a highly collaborative role that will be responsible for category management and insight support across the Amy’s portfolio of products within assigned key accounts and sales channels. The Category Analyst is passionate about analytics and customer partnerships and will own tracking and measuring of key business indicators for assigned key accounts/channels. This includes partnering with Sales & Marketing and customers in the development, deployment, and maintenance of reports/tools/content used to monitor category/business health, distribution goals, category/business opportunities, and effectiveness of category/customer strategies and tactics. The Category Analyst will partner in driving Amy’s strategies in alignment with customers to generate win-win opportunities between Amy’s and retail partners. The Category Analyst will advocate and assist in the integration and evolution of insights and analytics with our customers and cross-functional partners (Sales, Innovation, Customer Planning, Marketing, Demand Planning, etc.) as the Customer and Consumer Organization develops an Insights & Analytics Center of Excellence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop category expertise, identify, and articulate business insights and fact-based opportunities (storytelling) for assigned key accounts/channels leveraging a variety of retailer, vendor, market/consumption, and shopper data sources (organize, scrub, analyze, and finalize data as needed).
  • Partner with the Customer and Consumer Organization by providing analytics, reporting, and data-driven content addressing customer and category questions and opportunities.
  • Establish and develop expertise of Amy’s and key account data sources; assist with database integrity and maintenance as needed. Understand data nuances and unique applications.
  • Utilize various information sources to address a variety of routine and ad-hoc analytical projects, including (but not limited to) regularly published retailer and/or category scorecards, performance reports/updates with assessment of brand, category, and competitive opportunities/issues.
  • Develop expertise of the MAPS (Merchandising, Assortment, Pricing, and Shelving) strategic framework for each key category and assigned channel; develop data-driven processes/tools/content that ensure adherence and progress tracking within assigned partnerships; make recommendations for national MAPS adjustment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including your insights & analytics team, to create customer-specific and category-focused, analysis & compelling insights to take to assigned key accounts that ensures the alignment of Amy’s strategies to our customer partners and fuels the growth of our mutual business (bring in and brief cross-functional team members as needed to establish and foster customer partnerships).
  • Partner with your insights & analytics, sales strategy, sales planning, and brand teams to assist in and perform category deep dives, share key learnings, identify opportunities, and make strategic recommendations.
  • Foster and support evolving category partnerships with key account teams; bring the objective-category perspective to customer partnerships as they evolve.
  • Must have the ability to communicate complex information to audiences with different levels of knowledge; deliverables strive to be clear, organized, and adhere to both brand standards and industry best practices as they evolve (e.g., best in class reporting standards, spreadsheet engineering best practices, data visualization, dashboarding, etc.).
  • The Category Analyst must think creatively to propose new concepts and strives for continuous improvement.
  • This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications and Skills:
A Bachelor’s degree in a related field (or equivalent experience) and 1- 2 years’ experience with a natural products distributor, broker, retailer, or manufacturer, or with an information supplier/market research firm serving the CPG/grocery industry. Working knowledge of secondary and syndicated data sources (e.g., Numerator, IRI, SPINS, 84.51, Nielsen, RetailLink, Shopper 360, POL, etc.) is required.
  • Advanced user level in MS Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Strong analytical skills, interpreting data, market research, and data visualization ability
  • Excellent problem solving skills, multi-tasking, and ability to present information and solutions
  • Must be able to think critically and communicate effectively with a wide range of user
  • Ability to build strong relationships within all levels of an organization
  • Ability to train and educate others with outstanding writing and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
