POSITION SUMMARY The Applications Engineer Lead is able to provide advanced technical support to sales, marketing, engineering, manufacturing, and customers. Provides internal consulting, recommendations and testing of new products, product configurations and solutions. Able to provide advanced training within the organization or customers. Able to lead development of installation documentation and practices, assessment of product failures, and advanced product operating questions. Will supervise and lead team of Application Engineers. Incumbents may perform other duties as assigned.• Able to offer advanced technical support in the handling of technical questions that are posed by sales, customers, distributors, etc. Technical support includes installation, application, and compatibility issues.• Able to lead and/or provide layout drawings and material lists to sales for standard and custom combinations of ANS products.• Reviews requests for quotes and assists product managers and sales in the preparation of quotes as requested.• Serves as a technical resource on design and development teams to aid engineering in the development of new products.• Assists in the development of technical manuals as well as application and installation documents.• Assists in evaluating the functional characteristics of new and existing products for conformance to industry standards.• Interfaces with customers to provide technical input on product requirements documents for the development of New Products and iterations of existing products.• Assists in the development of training programs for internal and external training.• Provides assistance to ANS personnel to develop technical presentations.• Provides on-site technical support for product failure and installations.• Demonstrates integrity in all business activities.• Develops solutions to problems of moderate to advanced complexity. • Follows up with customers to ensure that problems are resolved.• Contributes to the establishment of goals and receives assignments for those goals.• Interacts with people to build productive working relationships. Participates in team projects.• Able to own and lead projects to technical completion. Participates and may even lead technical and organizational processes, practices, and methods.• Regular and predictable attendance is required.• Provides assignments to Application Engineers as required for technical support.• Provides ongoing feedback and coaching on job performance to direct reports.• Assists in the development of technical manuals as well as application and installation documents, both during new product development as well as updating older product documentation.EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE• 4-7 years’ experience in technical support• 1-2 years’ leadership experience, preferred• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field, or the equivalent in directly related work experience.• Telecommunications or fiber optic industry experience, preferred• Ability to understand more advanced engineering concepts specific to ANS applications.LANGUAGE AND PEOPLE SKILLS Amphenol Network Solutions culture is an open, lean, and challenging team environment. Microsoft Office is still the standard, but technology moves fast and thus a willingness to learn and try is important. Proficient in the use of word processing, spreadsheets, presentation, databases, and E-mail software, preferably with Microsoft Office products. Experience with Solidworks is a plus. MENTAL DEMANDSAbility to concentrate and focus on detailed information for long periods. Requires repetitive reviewing of numbers and other information and nearly mistake free work performance.PHYSICAL DEMANDS This employee must be able to move 25 pounds, and must be able to sit and type for extended periods of time. WORK ENVIRONMENT An employee in this position spends time in an office environment, interfacing through multiple mediums servicing internal and external customers. Some travel as required to provide on-site customer support.
