The Gist…

The Vice President of Finance role is an integral member of the senior management team, reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). As the Vice President of Finance, this person will provide the leadership, management, and vision necessary to ensure the fiscal health of the company.

What Your Day Might Include…

  • Build a top-notch finance and accounting team, ensuring revenues and expenses stay in balance, overseeing financial planning and analysis (FP&A) functions, making recommendations on mergers and acquisitions, obtaining working capital, working inter-departmentally to analyze financial data and craft budgets, attesting to the accuracy of reports.
  • The CFO will provide useful financial insights to the senior leadership team to help make better decisions about formulating and executing strategy, to enhance shareholder value. The goal of the CFO is to ensure adequate financial resources are available to drive sustainable growth goals.
  • Design and implement business strategies with proactive plans.
  • Ensure adequate cash flow to meet company growth goals.
  • Direct business rules/policies that promote the company’s culture and vision.
  • Provide timely, accurate and complete reports on the operating/financial condition of the company.
  • Track and review KPI’s performance regularly with management team.
  • Actively develop the annual budget, periodic forecasts, and preparation of monthly reporting.
  • Hire, train and lead skilled staff to retain and encourage maximum performance and team cohesion.
  • Oversee the relationship with all external auditors.
  • Assists the CEO in expansion/growth activities (i.e., investments, acquisitions, company alliances, etc.)
  • Manage company risk with adequate insurance and contractual compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax requirements.
  • Effectively manage banks, vendors/suppliers, and other important financial relationships.
  • Ensure the company has proper internal controls and policies/procedures for government compliance purposes and asset protection.
  • Direct short-term and long-range financial planning to support strategic business goals.
  • Oversee financial systems implementations and upgrades.

Requirements

You’ll Bring These Qualifications…

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting.
  • Proven experience as a CFO with a minimum of 15 years in a supervisory role working in a government contracting business.
  • Knowledge of FAR and CAS compliance regulations.
  • Demonstrable competency in strategic planning, financial reporting, and analysis.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, self-confidence.
  • Working knowledge of data analysis and performance/operation metrics.
  • Outstanding business and financial acumen.
  • Excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills.
  • Aptitude in decision-making and problem-solving.
  • Must communicate well within the organization at all levels.
