Overview

AMERISAFE is seeking a detail-oriented, productivity driven professional to add to our “Excellence Team” based in DeRidder, LA. The Facilities Assistant supports the Facilities Team in all aspects of maintaining a safe, clean, operational and orderly physical environment on AMERISAFE’s main campus and other associated locations as necessary.

Qualifications

• Minimum education of high school diploma or equivalent
• Must have knowledge, experience and ability to operate and maintain equipment, tools and systems consistent with essential functions
• Must have ability to understand and follow documentation, manuals and written instructions
• Must have valid license and acceptable driving record, to comply with Company standards
• Must have ability to lift heavy weight, operate equipment safely, and perform physical duties including climbing, working in confined areas, and tolerating outdoor hot, cold and wet conditions
• Should have basic computer skills for reading email, accessing internet, entering data
• Should have knowledge of properly handling hazardous material
• Must be organized and have good communication and time management skills
• Must demonstrate reliability, initiative, independence, and ability to work under pressure
• Must be available to occasionally work outside normal business hours, including weekends, as needed and respond to calls physically onsite within 30 minutes when necessary
• Must maintain confidentiality in all assigned job duties and as indicated by management

Responsibilities

• Performs general building and grounds maintenance tasks as assigned including basic plumbing, carpentry, repair, painting, organizing and cleaning
• Maintains grounds including mowing, trimming, pruning, sweeping, planting, cleaning, and caring
• Ensures building and grounds stay free of trash, debris, and generally remain neat and orderly
• Assists with loading/unloading, moving, assembling, delivering, stocking, and related activities
• Maintains tools and equipment in working order and keeps work areas clean and organized
• Performs emergency custodial services and related maintenance as necessary
• Assists with company activities and events, on and offsite, as necessary
• Remains accessible to management during the workday; checks in while working around campus
• Performs all work safely and to the operating, quality and timeliness standards of management
• Expected to be on-call occasionally and work limited after-hours and weekends as needed
