Job Summary:

Directs and administers all aspects of the warehouse, including requisitioning, receiving, storing, stocking, and distributing a wide variety of materials and supplies; ensuring the enforcement of all warehouse procedures and practices. Contacts are mainly with the Warehouse Manager, other managers and warehouse employees.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Leads special projects such as damage reduction, efficiencies, and overall warehouse improvements.
• Supervises all operational procedures for activities, such as verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and disposition of materials, and keeping warehouse inventory accurate and current.
• Inspects physical condition of the warehouse and equipment including forklifts, shrink wrapping, floor scales and other warehouse equipment and prepares work order for repairs and requisitions for replacement of equipment; reports on and corrects problems.
• Works with the Warehouse Manager to work within approved budget.
• Confers with department heads to ensure the coordination of warehouse activities with such activities as production, sales, records control and purchasing, deals with vendors, as required to ensure customer’s requirements are met.
• Interact with management, peers and team leads to establish goals with Manager.
• Work with Manager on plans for space utilization to meet cost and service standards.
• Recommends changes to existing safety policies and procedures for all activities; maintains current knowledge of and implements existing applicable federal and state safety and health requirements.
• Maintain building sanitation and create a clean working environment and assure ongoing compliance to all company procedures, work instructions and government regulations.
• Supervise receiving operation to minimize cost and ensures accurate receiving paperwork.
• Direct and control all transportation into and out of the warehouse to meet company standards of service, cost and security.
• Coordinate stager activities to ensure schedule is achieved and production has materials to produce schedule.
• Ensure FIFO is adhered to.
• Communicate material shortages, quality issues, or concerns to both production and purchasing departments.
• Directly supervises employees in the Shipping and Receiving and Staging Department. This includes employee communication and development through team meetings, leadership, performance appraisals, and goal setting.
• Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
• Cooperates with auditors, as necessary.

Qualifications:

Education / Experience / Certifications:

• 5 years related training/experience or Bachelor's degree preferred
• 5 years in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a production planning role
• 3 years supervisory experience
• Small company (<500) experience a plus
• Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.

Skills Required:

• Ability to work on own, self-starter.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills. Professional ethics, tact and courtesy in dealing with managers, supervisors and co-workers. Including the ability o read, write, speak and understand the English language.
• Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within the production department.
• Math skills with and without a calculator.
• Knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite.
• The ability to multi-task.
• Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
• Attention to detail.
• Ability to manage time when deadlines need to be met. 
• Strong supervisory skills, coupled with the ability to train, coach and mentor staff at all levels.
