Amerigo Education is Hiring a Payroll Manager Near Chicago, IL

Overview

The Payroll Manager will manage domestic and international payroll processing, ensuring all staff are paid accurately and on time, as well as overseeing compliance, and supporting accounts payable activities. Reporting to the Controller, the Payroll Manager will deliver accurate internal and external reporting of payroll activities in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations. The Payroll Manager is the key point of contact for all payroll related enquiries. This is a role for a highly organized, detail-oriented, energetic team player, with a continuous improvement mindset and superb interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Responsibilities 

Payroll

  • Process bi-weekly payroll for 150-200 hourly and salaried employees at multiple sites across the US
  • Process and/or oversee monthly payroll for international staff
  • Maintain information in the HRIS system including new hires, promotions, transfers, terminations, and other payroll/benefit changes
  • Maintain accuracy of benefit data feeds from the payroll system and reconcile invoices
  • Perform payroll related month end activities including payroll journal uploads, accruals and reconciliations
  • In conjunction with our payroll provider, work with federal, state and local tax agencies to ensure filing compliance, respond to notices and maintain good account standing
  • Review and reconcile quarterly and year-end payroll information
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant government and tax regulations and process labor statistic filings
  • Create and maintain strong internal controls to ensure data integrity and minimize errors
  • Provide support for audits including financial and workers compensation insurance
  • Perform other HR and Payroll related ad hoc projects and duties as assigned

Compliance

  • Manage the company’s compliance program, ensuring all regulatory filings are completed on time, and that the company is in compliance with all relevant regulations globally, across all legal entities

Bookkeeping

  • Day-to-day processing of accounts payable and invoice/provider payments
  • Provide accounting support in the areas of accounts payable, employee expenses, record keeping and systems across multiple locations

Key Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business or human resources discipline, required
  • 3-5 years payroll experience, required
  • A solid understanding of payroll processes and state, local and international laws pertaining to payroll administration
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and sense of urgency
  • Proven ability to prioritize and work independently within critical deadlines
  • Maturity, discretion, and experience dealing with highly confidential information
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; and excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain cooperative working relationships
  • Demonstrated experience with both payroll and accounting software as well as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.)
