Description

The Software Developer Intern at Americollect is an excellent opportunity for a college student enrolled in a Computer Science major to gain real-world experience. We are seeking a self-directed student with a passion for technology, collaboration, and creative problem-solving to join us for this temporary internship. This 2nd or 3rd year student will have the opportunity to support applications, databases, and other workflows. Primary responsibilities are troubleshooting issues, programming and testing code, and technical support. Plus, conveniently work from home with hours that fit your class schedule.

• Leverages opportunities to develop and expand knowledge of Americollect’s information technologies by learning foundational terminology, the components of software development, the functionality of technologies, and departmental policies and procedures.
• Partners with tenured teammates to define, design, and develop applications, databases, software programs, and computer systems based upon specified requirements that fulfil the needs of Americollect and its clients. Writes programming code and supports implementations with a focus on streamlined integrations with existing technologies.
• Produces clean, efficient, and well tested code and queries based upon specifications that ensure the performance and availability of the production environment are not negatively impacted.
• Confirms proper functionality of the above technologies by helping to develop and perform testing plans for a diverse set of scenarios. Contributes to upgrades and routine analyses throughout the production lifecycle to identify, develop, and implement enhancements, such as improved efficiencies or security. Promptly troubleshoots and resolves low impact functionality issues as they arise.
• Follows the Secure Application Development Stages. Performs on-going security testing and code review to improve software security.
• Follows change management best practices by assessing risk and tracking and managing changes to artifacts, such as code and requirements, prior to deployment.
• Contributes to the creation and maintenance of technical documentation capturing key information and process mapping for the above technologies.
• Researches new approaches towards programming, emerging development tools, and other reputable technologies that may benefit the department. Makes evidence-based recommendations to leadership to support decision making.

Requirements

Required Education

• Actively Enrolled in Associate or Bachelors Degree program with a focus in Computer Science, Information Science, Software Engineering, or other relevant field.

Experience

• 1 year(s) or two semesters worth of experience learning/writing/testing programming code (ideally in SQL, XML, Json, C#, C , VBA, or VB.Net languages) preferred
• Knowledge of object-oriented programming concepts preferred
