PURPOSE OF POSITION
American Track is seeking a highly organized and personable Payroll Coordinator to process multi-state, weekly and bi-weekly payroll, time and attendance, and reporting functions. This job includes maintaining, verifying, reviewing, and researching employee data to ensure timely and accurate payment for large construction based business. To succeed in this role, you will need to have a continuous process improvement approach, have excellent organizational, prioritization and interpersonal skills, be a team player, be knowledgeable of payroll compliance regulations, and maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- The Payroll Coordinator will compile data for payroll processing such as hours worked, overtime, PTO, sick pay, holiday pay, taxes, and insurance to be withheld, and employee identification number, from time sheets and other records
- Responsible for processing certified payroll
- Prepares and distributes various payroll reports
- Enter data into HRIS to compute wages and deductions
- Update's payroll records by entering changes in exemptions, savings deductions, and job title and department/division transfers
- Ensure all employee and timecard information is accurate for weekly payroll for hourly employees and biweekly payroll for salaried employees while adhering to compliance with Federal, State, and local government regulations
- Responsible for reconciling payroll runs and uploading payroll to a central location
- Prepare and issue manual checks if needed
- Respond to employee payroll-related inquiries; research and coordinate any necessary payroll corrections
- Prepare reports of earnings, taxes, deductions, and other information as required
- Maintaining all payroll operations according to company policies and procedures
- Perform any other job duties as assigned
Education Required:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required
- Associates or Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
- 3-5 years of full cycle payroll experience is required
- Significant knowledge of payroll administration and timekeeping systems, including local, state, and federal regulations
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong computer skills and intermediate experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook)
- Working knowledge of Ceridian Dayforce, strongly preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication with outstanding organizational skills
- Ability to work with all professional levels; must be a team player who can also work independently
- Processing multi-state is a plus
- Previous construction payroll experience highly preferred
