Description

American Track is seeking a motivated and experienced Civil Engineer to manage and design railroad related projects as well as maintain professional relationships with existing clients. The successful candidate will apply engineering fundamentals for technical support of project design; work on multiple railroad projects and develop project schedules and budgets; perform railroad design. The Civil Engineer will play a key role in all aspects of setting business development strategies and increasing overall awareness for American Track and overall capabilities to facilitate growth.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES 

· Analyzing survey reports, long-range plans, maps and other data to design new projects

· Considering budget, regulations and environmental hazards during risk-analysis stage

· Preparing material, equipment and labor cost estimates and confirming costs are within the budget

· Forecasting design and construction timeline

· Completing and submitting all permit applications to the appropriate agencies and ensuring projects are compliant throughout the design and construction stages

· Overseeing soil testing to establish soil strength and building feasibility

· Using design software to create project drawings and renderings

· Managing repair and maintenance of infrastructure projects

· All other duties as assigned

Requirements

Education Required:

· Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering

· PE License is preferred but not necessary

Work Experience Required:

· 2-5 years’ experience (Railroad alignment, roadway transportation design experience preferred)

Skills & Knowledge Required:

· Must be proficient in AutoCAD (AutoDesk Civil 3D)

· Has the ability to create horizontal alignments, vertical profiles, and cross-sections, and basic drafting techniques and plan preparation

· Experience in creating detailed construction plans

· Experience submitting plans to reviewing agencies and ensuring plans comply with reviewing agency requirements

· Able to work with other engineering disciplines to coordinate track design

· Able to interpret and possibly write specifications.

· Advanced calculus and trigonometry skills

· Experience in civil design (drainage design, E&S control, grading, etc. is a bonus)

· Excellent organizational and time management abilities

· Advanced decision-making and problem-solving skills

· Demonstrated leadership and teamwork capabilities

· Ability to multitask effectively

· Strong verbal and written communication skills
