AMERICAN INDUSTRIES is Hiring a Project Manager Near Jewett City, CT

American Industries, Inc. is a family owned and operated asphalt producer, road construction, milling and paving contractor that has been in business for over 60 years and has established itself in multiple states. We are currently looking to hire a motivated, intelligent and hard working Project Manager to build a Team to Manage Large Scale Projects in Connecticut for the Department of Transportation. The ideal candidate will oversee Major Projects from Contract Award to Project Closeout. The candidate will work with upper management and act as the main point of contact for the Connecticut Department of Transportation and be fully responsible for the success of assigned Projects.

Requirements:

  • Must be organized and able to work in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to prioritize is a must
  • Attend and lead meetings
  • Oversee all aspects of the Project Financially and Operationally
  • Manage Project budget utilizing job costing and forecasting
  • Provide timely status reports to Management
  • Coordinate Subcontractors and Self-Perform Work
  • Develop and Maintain Project Schedules
  • Manage Subcontracts and Purchase Orders
  • Represent the Company and be the lead for all Project Meetings
  • Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, Project and Bluebeam or Adobe
  • Review quantities and generate pay estimates
  • Report to Upper Management, Project Staff and Project Owners
  • Coordinate and Schedule Subcontractors and Vendors
  • Assist Superintendent and Foreman in efficiently scheduling resources including labor and equipment
  • Supervise and schedule employees
  • Coordinate with Field Supervisors, Foreman, Crew Leaders, Trucks and Asphalt Plant as needed
  • Read and Interpret Plans and Contract Specifications
  • Estimate and perform quantity take offs
  • Buyout and procure Project materials
  • Develop and maintain Project schedules
  • Identify and negotiate Change Orders
  • Enforce Contract requirements with employees and Subcontractors
  • Balance resources between multiple Projects to meet Contract needs

Qualifications

  • 5 years of experience
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Industry knowledge and ability to read and interpret plans and specifications
  • Detail-oriented
  • Self-motivated
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Exhibit Leadership Qualities
  • Ability to make decisions under pressure that directly result in the success and completion of the Project
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word and Project), Bluebeam and Oracle Primavera P6
