THE ROLE: CHIEF COMPLIANCE OFFICER (CCO)

CCO will advise the Board of Directors and senior management of the Company on compliance matters and provide guidance around advancing company-wide ethics and compliance initiatives. CCO will monitor and evaluate the company’s business operations for compliance matters and concerns, including compliance with various payor rules and federal and state regulatory systems. 

JOB LOCATION

South Florida headquarters. Remote work nationwide. Travel required to company’s South Florida headquarters: initial months likely require significant time spent at headquarters. Thereafter only periodic travel to South Florida required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  •  At the most senior levels, report, communicate, research laws, regulations, requirements, regulatory audits and/or exams.
  • Refine and advance the company’s suite of policies and procedures in light of changing law, new vulnerabilities, and new lines of business entered into by the company. 
  • Lead initiatives to ensure sound implementation of policies; educate and train all company personnel to create a company-wide “culture of compliance.”
  • Work alongside company operational heads to identify areas of heightened risk and compliance vulnerability, and to develop and implement response plans in light of findings.
  • Serve as the company’s Privacy Officer and spearhead the continued implementation of industry best practices to guard protected health information.
  • Lead the company’s HIPAA compliance efforts alongside the company’s Data Security Officer. 
  • Respond to and investigate matters of concern raised by employees to company reporting hotline, and other alleged violations of company policies and procedures, or applicable law.
  • Lead responses to external inquiries and audits, working alongside company leadership and relevant company personnel.
  • Oversee internal reviews and engaged third party audits in various aspects of the company’s business.
  • Regularly report to the Board of Directors and company leadership on compliance progress, status, and matters of concern as they arise.

Requirements

 SKILLS

  • Must be strategic, creative, and agile.
  • Ability to work effectively with, influence and get consensus across functional units and at all levels in organization, as well with external parties.
  • Work efficiently with a high attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to build and maintain positive work relationships and effectively interface across the organization.
  • Ability to enthusiastically support and promote the goals of our organization and its clients.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA or BS required, J.D. or M.A. in healthcare administration or compliance preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years health care, regulatory, ethics, compliance, or privacy experience. 
  • Experience in the clinical laboratory or mobile diagnostics industry.
  • Experience leading a compliance team in a business with multi-state operations.
  • In-depth knowledge of Medicare health plan operations, reporting and audits including CMS Program Audits.
