Description
Job Summary
Responsible for formulations and testing of synthetic and natural rubbers, nylons, and related adhesives for aerospace and defense fuel cells (fuel bladders) in challenging applications.
Role and Responsibilities
· Develop, assess and recommend new recipes of rubbers, nylons and adhesives
· Maintain existing formulations and assess alternates for improvement in processing, applications and final products
· Responsible for systematic documentation and management in recipe management system
· Coordinating activities with operations for proper use and adherence to standards
· Participate in troubleshooting production processes with Process Improvement, Quality, Engineering and Operations teams
· Responsible for R&D lab operations and management
Requirements
Qualifications and Education Requirements
· Excellent technical skills including ASTM testing and use of chemistry lab equipment such as chromatography, mass spectroscopy, rheometer/viscometer, and others
· Ability to perform root cause analysis and apply systematic problem-solving skills
· Self-motivated, team player with the ability to contribute to increase productivity, quality and throughput
· Proven work experience with rubber and adhesives chemistry, preferably related to rubber molding, calendaring, and bonding
· Familiarity with health and safety regulations
· Analytical thinker with strong interpersonal skills
· BS degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Material Science minimum. MS preferred.
· Minimum of five years related experience desired
· MUST BE A US CITIZEN

· Person will regularly be required to use hands and arms with repetitive motion and reach
· Position requires the possibility of sitting or standing consistently
· Employee will regularly be exposed to fumes or airborne particles in production areas
