American College Of Cardiology Foundation is Hiring a Senior Project Manager Near Washington, DC

The Senior Project Manager is part of a new department within the American College of Cardiology (ACC) that is charged with developing and managing the College’s portfolio of strategic projects and programs. The primary responsibility of this position is to manage strategic project(s) and to track and monitor related deliverables. In leading the delivery of projects, the Sr. PM collaborates with stakeholder business units, performs project reporting and provides visibility into project status for schedule, budget, risks, and issues. The Sr. PM also provides regular input into the Integrated Master Schedule managed by the Enterprise Program Management Office (EPMO).

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with senior management and stakeholders, defines and manages project scope, goals and deliverables that support strategic business goals and ensures that customer and stakeholder needs are satisfied.
  • Performs project planning and oversees establishment, execution, and evaluation of a multifaceted project or program.
  • Ensures good practices in standard methodologies and processes are used to deliver a viable solution.
  • May include responsibility for oversight of technical development.
  • Provides oversight of project change control and escalation.
  • Facilitates risk evaluation and development of mitigation plans to meet project objectives.
  • Performs estimations for resources and negotiates with Resource Managers for project staff.
  • Serves as a single point of contact and acts in a liaison capacity to facilitate problem resolution.
  • Creates schedules and monitors project performance and project milestones and deliverables, including dependencies and critical path using scheduling tools, e.g. MS-Project.
  • Monitors day-to-day operations and reports on project cost, schedule and overall performance.
  • Conducts lessons learned and contributes to continuous process and performance improvements.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Seven years of project work experience including four years of progressive responsibility managing multiple medium to large complex projects in a cross-functional environment.
  • Three years of experience managing projects with a strong IT component.
  • Two years as a direct supervisor or team leader.
  • Must possess extensive knowledge in the use of Project Management methodologies.
  • Demonstrated analytic experience in budgeting, estimating, and project financial reviews and proven ability to execute with limited information and ambiguity.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and to build relationships across divisions.
  • Ability to complete multiple tasks under timeline pressures while maintaining attention to detail.
  • PMP Certification (or comparable equivalent) or achievement of PMP certification within the first year of employment.
  • Ability to effectively prepare and present verbal and written project related information.
  • Experience with use of change management techniques.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills including the ability to make good decisions in ambiguous and unfamiliar situations.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels with clarity and precision both written and verbally.
  • Demonstrated business and technical acumen.
  • Demonstrated ownership and commitment to achieve project goals.
  • Fluency with Microsoft Office software (PowerPoint, Excel, Word and MS-Project).
  • Experience with SharePoint a plus.
  • Experience in transformational change a plus.
