Reports To: Assistant Manager, Deposit Operations

Position Status: Full-time, Non-exempt

Job Summary:  An Operations Specialist is the backbone of the bank’s customer service operations and administrative tasks through numerous tasks such as managing wires, reconciling bank statements, balancing ledgers, and other required work. Accuracy and efficiency are two primary skills that is expected of someone in operations, alongside strong mathematical skills, and good customer service.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Answer calls in the general workgroup and provide information to bank staff regarding products and services and other pertinent Bank information.
  • Process basic non-cash financial transactions, such as transfers, fee reversals, and check disbursements.
  • Process basic account maintenance transaction, including but not limited to and other contact information, wire transfers, ATM and Debit Cards, and resetting passwords.
  • Research information to resolve customer requests and concerns, working closely with supervisors and other departments. Escalate issues in a timely manner to ensure service level agreements are met.
  • Track trends and system issues to ensure accurate reporting to appropriate lines of business and management.
  • Research and monitor reports pertaining to card processing, deposit accounts, general ledger account, loans and other product lines as needed. 
  • Daily and monthly balancing of general ledgers and internal checking accounts.
  • Review and monitor Cash Management customer transactions and perform annual risk reviews for ACH, Wires and Remote Deposit Capture. 
  • Assist with filing fraud claims.
  • Adhere to security and confidentiality protocols, operational procedures, and best practice guidelines.
  • Scan, index and check for quality assurance of scanned documents through the document imaging system.
  • Complete required security and regulatory online training modules.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • 1 to 2 years’ Call Center, Operations, Teller, Financial Industry or Retail experience preferred.
  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for stated qualifications.

Working Conditions:

  • Work environment is indoors in a clean atmosphere with normal noise levels.
  • Ability to work under time constraints and pressure is required.
  • Exposed to a potentially hazardous condition – robbery. Receives detailed instructions and procedures to be followed to minimize the risk.
  • Hours of work: Monday – Friday 8am-5pm MST.
  • Ability to attend bank trainings, meetings or other bank functions is required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Critical sensory abilities are seeing, hearing/listening, touching, and speaking
  • Physical dexterity requirements include operating general office equipment such as telephone, computer, calculator, typewriter, photocopier, fax machine, and postage machine. Physical ability to stand, walk, sit, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Mental effort requirements include reading, writing, basic arithmetic, mathematics, visualizing conclusions, analyzing data, searching for solutions, creating methodologies, conducting research, and managing resources.
  • Physical requirements include standing for long periods when providing customer service, sitting, walking and must be able to lift and carry 30 lbs. waist high and 20 lbs. shoulder high

Travel Requirements:

  • I understand that even though my primary work assignment will be in my main branch; I agree to go to any other location requested by management. I understand that such temporary re-assignment will require the use of my personal vehicle. If I am requested to spend the entire day at a non-primary location, American Bank will pay for my time spent traveling which is inclusive from the time I leave my home to the time I return to my home. In addition, any time that I use my personal vehicle in such travel, I understand that American Bank will reimburse my mileage at the current designated IRS mileage reimbursement rate.
