In addition, we are standing up the organization’s Master Data Management (MDM) solution, as well as its enterprise Data Warehouse (DW).
Our group is also responsible for the AACR IT Help Desk and is in the process of building out a more robust customer service offering, for internal and external constituents.
Job Summary:
The Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer is primarily responsible for the verification of all implementations and enhancements to our existing systems. This will include existing tools, systems currently being stood up, and future technologies the organization acquires. The position reports to the Director, Enterprise Platform Services and Data Management.
The QA Engineer is responsible for all aspects of testing and quality management within the Enterprise Platform Services and Data Management team. Presently the supported platforms include ServiceNow and Salesforce, however a new Platform (AACR Central) is being implemented which will include Master Data Management (MDM), Data Warehouse (DW), Data Reporting, and Integration Tools.
Supporting the Platforms will involve working with the individual Platform Manager to identify testing tasks related to their current efforts, working with the Director to ensure prioritization is aligned with the organization’s needs, developing the high-level and detailed testing plans for items that require testing, and then executing the plan.
This may involve working with Developers, Platform Managers, Business Analysts, or other stakeholders to clarify requirements, ensure that the actual results align with what is expected, and confirm any solution documentation is accurate. Where actual results differ from Expected Results, bugs will be logged with sufficient details for the Developer to reproduce it, with clear guidance on what is expected so they are aware of what is needed to correct it.
While testing is a primary function of the QA Engineer, the QA Engineer is not solely a “tester” and should not approach testing activities solely from the mindset of a “tester”. Candidates for this position will be expected to thoroughly understand and explain the distinction between “testing” and “quality” as it relates to the verification of system and business functions, in their own words.
Other activities can include engaging in reviews of the system from a quality perspective, focusing not only on the technical function/meeting of requirements but the broader implications to the user experience - both on the front-end from our constituents, as well as the back-end from our internal business users.
Ultimately successful candidates for this role will be inquisitive, comfortable with solving problems and able to function with minimal guidance. And they will be able to clearly articulate their observations, ideas and suggestions in verbal and written communication.
