AMDA is Hiring a Community Health Coordinator (Full Time) Near Los Angeles, CA

Position Summary:

AMDA’s Community Health Coordinator(s) serve as leaders within the AMDA Center for Health and Performance to ensure overall health and wellness amongst our students, staff, and faculty. Community Health Coordinators are responsible for assisting in the development of health and safety protocols, supervising campus health monitoring efforts, and promoting healthy behaviors and practices amongst members of the campus community.

Responsibilities:

The Community Health Coordinators’ primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Administrative

  • Promoting a welcoming atmosphere and quality customer service.
  • Maintaining professionalism and upholding confidentiality of private health information.
  • Maintaining accurate and detailed record keeping.
  • Maintaining regular communication with supervisor(s) and partnering departments.
  • Attending scheduled meetings.
  • Following up on action items.
  • Writing and distributing newsletters, flyers, invitations and other correspondences.
  • Gathering essential contact information from community members.
  • Responding to questions from students, staff and faculty in person, by phone, via email and/or referring to appropriate departments.
  • Attending required professional development trainings, while obtaining necessary certifications relevant to job duties to enhance competency.
  • Utilizing modern technology to manage and organize student health information.
  • Other related duties as assigned by Supervisor(s).

Community Health 

  • Sending internal student referrals to the appropriate department regarding urgent or non-urgent student concerns.
  • Providing external referrals to outside care facilities, as needed, for concerns that require specializations that are not housed on the AMDA campus.
  • Assisting supervisors with budget development for Community Health related needs, events, and activities.
  • Developing and proposing various Community Health action plans that support the overall mission of the Center for Health and Performance. 
  • Participating in various Community Health initiatives. 

COVID-19

  • Assisting students with scheduling COVID-19 vaccination appointments.
  • Assisting with organizing COVID-19 booster clinics on campus.
  • Gathering essential contact information from community members.
  • Attending regular LA County Public Health Meetings and disseminating all relevant information to the Community Health Team. 
  • Participating in the development and implementation of AMDA’s COVID-19 Code of Conduct.
  • Review and communicate new LADPH COVID-19 Guidance for Institutes of Higher Education
  • Development of COVID-19 related campus announcements under the guidance of the Community Health Supervisor.
  • Assist the community health supervisor with campus wide COVID-19 surveillance testing.
  • Track positive COVID-19 cases through campus surveillance testing and provide necessary follow up and support. 
  • Conduct COVID-19 Contact Tracing for all positive and suspected cases and provide necessary notification for all close contacts. 
  • Report COVID-19 positive cases and close contacts to the LA County Department of Public Health. 
  • Direct student cases of COVID-19 testing non-compliance to the Student Affairs department. 
  • Assist with monitoring students, staff and faculty that are required to abide by AMDA’s “Test to Stay” Protocol following medium to high risk close contacts, ensuring continuity of access to classroom spaces in lieu of a traditional quarantine protocol.
  • Compile COVID-19 metric reporting data and relay key metrics to campus administration and the larger AMDA Community. 
  • Assist students, staff, and faculty with all COVID-19 related questions and concerns under the direction of AMDA’s Director of Community Health and Athletic Performance.

Student Support

  • Updating ID Clearances based upon testing, isolation/quarantine, or symptomatic status. Blocking or Unblocking IDs for campus access when put in or released from quarantine/isolation
  • Assist Center for Health and Performance team in responding to ill or injured student concerns/inquiries.
