Ambri is Hiring an Engineering Technician III Near Marlborough, MA

Ambri, an energy company commercializing an innovative battery technology first developed at MIT, is seeking a full-time and experienced Engineering Technician to support our cell development team by setting up and operating equipment and assembling components. In this role, no two days will present the same work. The successful candidate will comfortably adapt to varying priorities and responsibilities while being able to confidently receive verbal instruction and perform independently. This is a hands-on role with opportunity to showcase one’s many talents. The person best suited for this role thrives as a team player, is adaptable to changing demands, and comfortable working in a fast paced, manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with engineers and technicians to set up and operate various equipment, assemble & fabricate components to aid production or design efforts, which includes welding, machining and using other manual tools
  • Work collaboratively and as part of a team that will create and design new parts and step processes with development engineers
  • Perform manual tasks in a variety of environmental conditions such as with the use of respirators, inside of a controlled environment and working with high temperature materials
  • Assist with fabrication/preparation of tests such as cutting, crimping wires, and assembling enclosures
  • Actively support and participate in the environmental health & safety improvement program
  • Assist and perform preventative and reactive maintenance on equipment and infrastructure

Requirements:

  • 5 years’ experience in a technical role performing equipment repair, equipment maintenance, fabrication or similar
  • Comfort supporting engineers in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to use hand tools and machinery such as drill press and similar equipment
  • Hands on experience with electrical wiring and following schematics/procedures
  • Experience with TIG and/or MIG welding is helpful, welding stainless steel and nickel is strongly preferred
  • Capable of manually lifting and moving heavy metal-based modules with weight of up to 50 lbs
  • Must be safety oriented and able to read, understand and constantly follow companywide safety instructions
  • Strong communication skills. Ability to follow technical instructions and clearly communicate, both written and orally
  • Demonstrated behavior of being a reliable, dependable and collaborative team member
  • Capable of working both independently, and as part of a fast-moving team
  • Proven organization skills with an eagerness to take initiative
  • Experience working in metal fabrication or assembly is preferred
  • Comfort and familiarity in a laboratory or industrial work environment
  • Familiarity with computers including MS office, specifically MS Excel for data entry
