Amazing Magnets

Purpose of the role:

Designing and optimization of new and existing magnetic products. Developing creative solutions that solve production or user problems. Optimizing designs for manufacturability, cost, and magnetic efficiency. Fabricating functional prototypes. Drafting detailed manufacturing specifications for quoting and fabrication.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Knowledge of Work

• Continually expand your knowledge through the completion of educational courses such as engineering design, 3d modeling, Solidworks, Injection Molding, rapid prototyping and manufacturing technology, magnetics, or similar courses to improve productivity.
• Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
• Contribute to tribal knowledge with peers.
• Build and manage a rich library of tools and information that can be used for reference and resources.
• Design experiments to expand knowledge in the field of magnetics and magnetic solutions.

2. Communication

• Effectively listen to others.
• Demonstrate technical writing and verbal communication skills when communicating with technical or engineering clients.
• Simplify and effectively explain complex topics to clients from non-engineering backgrounds.
• Create and present design and engineering change proposals to clients.

Person Specifications

Skills and competencies

• Strong working knowledge of CAD and 3D Modeling (Solidworks preferred, with current certification)
• Experience with Design for Manufacturing (Emphasis on Injection molded plastic part design)
• Ability to read, understand, and create engineering drawings
• Ability to read and understand white papers, datasheets, and patents in the field of mechanical engineering.
