AFA History: AFA was founded in 2002 by a family caregiver to ensure families affected by Alzheimer’s disease always had a place to turn for guidance, support, and services.

AFA Mission Statement: The mission of the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (AFA) is to provide support, services and education to individuals, families and caregivers affected by Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias nationwide, and fund research for better treatment and a cure.

Position Summary: We are looking for a seasoned Capital Campaign Manager to create, develop and lead AFA’s capital campaign.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Build and manage a portfolio of major gift donors and prospect. Maintain an emphasis on high-net-worth individuals with the capacity to give $100,000 or greater.
• Drive the strategies and plan to identify, cultivate, upgrade, and/or solicit retained and new donors, with an eye to building a strong pipeline of qualified major donors.
• Create a fundraising strategy and development timeline focused on major gifts and planned giving in order to raise $15m over the course of the campaign and increasing this amount in future years to meet goals identified in our forthcoming strategic plan.
• Research and recommend additional revenue streams to pursue
• Build individualized cultivation and solicitation strategies.
• Planned Giving Growth and Outreach –Work with administrators and planned giving professionals to maximize giving through deferred giving structures.
• Works closely with leadership, and staff to identify prospects and develop strategies for the cultivation and solicitation of philanthropic support. Coordinate and collaborate with colleagues, including leadership team, Board of Directors, and development team members to develop targeted and personalized solicitation and stewardship.
• Designs and implements donor outreach efforts to diversify the major donor base.
• Work with the Development Director on individual appeal campaigns, online and digital giving initiatives and digital donor engagement including social media.
• Establish a strong external and inspiring fundraising pitch that attracts new donors to support our work
• Support the creation of new, high-impact initiatives to achieve scalability and maximum impact, in alignment with the organization’s objectives and priorities; this may include, but is not limited to the design and implementation of a collaboration structure of leading philanthropic organizations and donors to partner with government and business and to drive collective action for the public benefit.
• Support the development of strategies to enlist both business and government partners to scale fundraising efforts.
• Conduct meetings and develop strong relationships with donors and prospects
• Regularly attend networking events and identify opportunities to build a robust network within the world of philanthropy.

Requirements

• 4 years of relevant work experience in a donor-facing role in Development.
• Experience managing a capital campaign from start to end.
• Proven track record of securing major donor gifts.
• Experience managing budgets and meeting revenue goals.
• Experience working with board members and senior leadership.
• Self-starter with ability to get up to speed quickly
• Highly motivated, organized, flexible, and proactive.
• Strong time and project management skills.
• Excellent communication skills—both oral and written.
• Discretion with sensitive, confidential, and proprietary information.
