The Compliance Accountant is responsible for reviewing the balance sheet reconciliations and supporting documentation with focus on GAAP compliance and operational efficiencies, in accordance with departmental timelines with prompt recommendations for required adjustments. The Senior Accountant also completes detailed process reviews and proposes improvements. Acts a direct liaison with external auditors to support the timely completion of engagements.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities Include:

• Ensures the timely and accurate posting, balancing, and reconciliation of the general ledger for each entity.
• Prepares work papers, financial statements, and various reports for internal accounting and auditing.
• Researches and analyzes fluctuations between current financial results compared to prior year, prior month, and budgeted amounts.
• Works with independent auditors to ensure compliance with financial reporting requirements.
• GAAP accounting to statutory accounting.
• Recommends changes in internal control policy and procedures.
• Performs internal audits
• Assists business partners with budget activity, proper expenditure coding, document preparation, and other accounting-related activities.
• Reviews the work completed by the bookkeepers, bank reconcilers, and accounts payable clerks to ensure accurate financial transactions.
• Assists in the training of technical and accounting personnel.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting
• ERP Experience is a plus.
• 3 years of accounting experience (ideally 2 at a public accounting firm or equivalent, plus 1 as a corporate accountant in the automotive industry )
• CPA is preferred but not required
• Attention to detail
• Team player with good analytical skills and problem-solving abilities. Display a positive attitude, with an ability to successfully cope with a changing environment
• Strong prioritization, and organizational skills and ability to multi-task
• Excellent computer skills with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
