Description
The Quality Technician performs audits on parts and processes to verify conformance to specifications and requirements, reporting results to management and facilitating improvement. Participate in preventive activities such as APQP, SPC and Training. Respond to customer issues internally and externally.
Requirements
Primary Duties and Responsibilities Include:
· Audit existing products and processes with the Audit Tracking Database system. Develop new audits and audit questions. Use PIM, Customer and ACC specifications as acceptance criteria. Reference WI-QAD-007.
· Participate in APQP, PPAP, Gage R&R and Statistical Capability analysis activities and resultant documentation generation.
· Review SPC charts / data on the production floor and act on trends or out of spec points to assure ongoing process performance.
· Train operators and others by assisting management in delivering training on processes, procedures and work instructions.
· Generate and issue Quality Alerts to operations per TS procedure 8.10.0.
· Initiate and participate in the 8-D process. Analyze and investigate the root cause of external and internal non-conforming product and make proposals to QE for corrective actions.
· Initiate, help execute containment and help maintain and update the NCM database for timely Control of Non-Conforming Material.
· Develop and implement defect-reduction and continuous improvement programs, monitor their effectiveness, and implement appropriate adjustments.
· Report quality metrics or data and provide analysis where necessary using excel functions and Mini Tab.
· Measure Parts using gages and available equipment.
· Understand and interpret X-ray images per WI-QAD-039
· Recommend GD&T, drawing modification, and gage needs.
· Understand material control including MIR’s and Op 100 transaction.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities
· Knowledge of quality systems, documentation and concepts.
· Knowledge of quality statistics such as SPC and capability.
· Excellent follow through on quality activities.
· Effective human relations skills, including good listening ability and the capability to work within teams.
· Knowledge of Word, Excel, Power Point and Minitab.
Education and/or Experience
· One year minimum of Quality experience.
· High School Diploma or equivalency (HSED or GED).
Physical Demands
· Standing and walking, occasionally for long periods, within manufacturing facilities
· Sitting and typing at a computer
· Often required to pick up and handle parts (more than 20 lbs)
· Required to look at parts and see processes/operations
· This position requires lifting moderately heavy items such as parts and/or equipment, standing, walking, reaching, bending and stopping.
Work Environment
· Office and factory including risks which require special safety precautions, e.g., working around operating machines, handling of hazardous testing chemicals, automobile and airplane travel.
· Protective clothing or gear such as safety glasses/goggles, gloves and shoes may be required.
