The Plant Controller is responsible for providing accurate, timely and useful information to Management, both Corporate and local, and be the financial advisor to the Plant Manager; and has responsibility for financial statements, budget preparation, financial analysis, account reconciliations, analysis and compilation of cost standards and inventory review.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop plant budgets and track and provide recommendations to improve plant financial performance.
  • Maintain and update inventory valuation and reports.
  • Maintain perpetual inventory reporting and variance analysis.
  • Maintain and update all aspects of material costs.
  • Communicate with materials department on all aspects of inventory procedures, transactions and valuations.
  • Audit and prepare analysis on all areas of BOM, routings, material costs, purchase orders, and reimbursable costs.
  • Maximize effectiveness of buying function and evaluate major purchase options.
  • Coordinate with Engineering on development and maintenance of capital spending monthly forecast and actuals.
  • Supports cost saving initiatives, business operating system management, and compile operational review reports for Senior Management.
  • Develop and enhance cost models by job which track actuals and forecast direct labor, scrap cost, and variable expenses.
  • Develop enhancements to financial systems that result in greater standardization of work processes and improve productivity.
  • Produce sales forecasts and job margin analysis.
  • Leads by example in the practice of safe behaviors.
  • Additional responsibilities as required – this position is subject to change as the needs of the department change.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop project plans and manage projects to successful completion.
  • Ability to learn new programs, activities and tasks.
  • Good oral/written communications and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to facilitate small group meetings.
  • Strong organizational, planning and documentation skills.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to walk, climb or balance, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Education

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting.
  • CPA and/or MBA preferred.

Work Experience

  • Requires 9 years of hands-on experience.
  • High level of analytical skill
  • Expert level Excel and ERP systems experience.
