ALS Environmental is Hiring a Laboratory Technician Near Everett, WA

Overview

Primary Objective:

The Laboratory Technician 1 will be responsible for ensuring that timely and quality results are produced.

Responsibilities

Position Duties and Scope:

  • Ensure that all tasks are performed within both the time restraints and the relevant analysis standards.
  • Highlight anomalies in results and sample type and sample behavior from running basic tests.
  • Perform housekeeping duties as required.
  • Calibrate laboratory equipment as required.
  • Perform calculations as required when conducting analytical preparations.
  • Prepare and extract samples for analysis
  • Control consumable stock required for the tasks performed.
  • Perform basic laboratory tasks including sampling handling, glassware handling, sample testing, and housekeeping
  • Create and maintain standards and reagents.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Position Requirements:

  • High school diploma/GED is required.
  • Associates Degree is preferred.
  • 0–3 years of laboratory experience is preferred.

Core Competencies:

  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office.
  • Must be able to initiate corrective action without prompting and assist co-workers whenever necessary in order to meet deadlines.
  • Must be able to effectively perform duties under pressures arising from large sample volumes and short turn-around times.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to use (or learn to use) Laboratory Information Management System.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Occupational Health & Safety Responsibilities:

  • Follow all company operating procedures, standards, policies, and training to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the site.
  • Play an active role in the ALS safety program by correcting or reporting unsafe acts and conditions that are observed during day to day operations to create a zero-injury work environment.
  • Participate in and support HSE initiatives, as required by ALS leadership.
  • Understand and use HSE precautions (such as but not limited to fume hoods and PPE) while working with chemicals and samples of unknown hazard
