The Manager of R&D Finance is a key member of Alnylam’s Finance Business Partner team, partnering with business leaders across the R&D organization. This role will regularly engage with functional leadership, be a key resource for department budget owners, and ensure that all functional activities are appropriately reflected in the company’s budgets, forecasts, and long-range planning. Summary of Key Responsibilities - Be a Finance Business Partner for several functions across the R&D organization, providing insights into key value drivers and Business KPIs to help the R&D leadership team deliver its short-term and long-term goals. - Participate in the monthly/quarterly accounting close for expenses and accruals, including compliance with SOX control requirements, in close collaboration with the Accounting team and the R&D business partners. - Support preparation of R&D monthly and quarterly consolidated reporting packages to highlight key business results, insights, and present results to the R&D leadership teams. - Conduct the financial performance management process with a focus on supporting and influencing business operations and decisions through an understanding of key performance drivers, risks, and opportunities - Manage the financial planning process (annual budget, forecasts, long range plan, etc.) for assigned functions to provide relevant, forward-looking observations and develop key scenarios. - Work closely with other members of the Finance organization to maintain a continuous improvement mindset and promote strong communication and efficient processes. - Support special projects and ad hoc analyses as needed. Qualifications - Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Finance or Accounting. - Minimum 4 years of relevant financial experience (e.g. Corporate Finance, FP&A, Accounting) or the equivalent combination of education and experience. - Comprehensive understanding of accounting and finance principles, as well as strong financial analysis and data interpretation skills. - Biotechnology/Pharmaceutical industry experience strongly preferred. Experience supporting R&D functions a plus. - Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and an eagerness to collaborate with colleagues in sharing insights and learnings and partnering to ensure timely execution of project plans. - Able to handle multiple assignments and manage competing priorities with tight deadlines - Highly proficient in MS Excel and Powerpoint; experience with SAP ERP preferred, experience with Adaptive Planning System a plus. - If employed in the U.S., being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as defined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is required Alnylam Pharmaceuticals is an EEO employer committed to an exciting, diverse, and enriching work environment.
