Description

The Senior CAD Designer will collaborate with engineers, vendors and solicit feedback from production operators to schedule and prepare layouts, detail drawings, assembly drawings, sketches, and diagrams. The Sr. CAD Designer will use technology to create drawings to customer’s specifications for manufacturing purposes, applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials. The Senior CAD Designer will also make recommendations and suggestions for improvements to process and technology to achieve the department goals.

Reports to: Engineering Manager/General Manager

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Essential Functions:

• Create and design production drawings; uses CAD Modeling and transforms initial rough product designs to CAD part drawings
• Review engineering drawings and designs to ensure they adhere to specifications and standards.
• Establishes SOPs and Work Instructions
• Develop design concepts while completing design layouts and assembly drawings.

Requirements

Competencies and Attributes Needed:

• Expert knowledge of modeling software, SolidWorks knowledge preferred
• Ability to read and understand 2D and 3D drawings
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Solid multitasking and organizational skills.
• Ideal candidate would be comfortable visiting a manufacturing floor and implementing feedback
• Understanding of fabrication blueprints

Physical Requirements:

• Sit often, stand, reach, stoop and climb occasionally
• Lift at least 25 pounds, infrequently
