Job Description

Allied Universal® is hiring a Desktop Engineer. The Desktop Engineer designs and supports the Desktop working environment for Allied Universal personal computers. This role is integral in taking the design from theory to a working image ready for mass deployment by our external partners. Additionally, the Desktop Engineer is responsible for managing and maintaining standards and security for user endpoints in the environment including laptops, desktops, virtual desktops, printers, and MFPs. The Desktop Engineer provides advanced technical assistance to Service Desk technicians to resolve software and hardware-related problems on endpoint computers and peripherals. This role participates in vulnerability management on all endpoints including performing monthly patch cycles and remediating reported vulnerabilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create, deploy, and manage automated desktop software updates/deployments according to the change management process; perform system testing to ensure stability of updates prior to deployment
  • Maintain the base image of all endpoints (software updates, security patches, and driver updates)
  • Manage the deployment of monthly patches to all endpoints and reports weekly on status
  • Assists in managing, monitoring, controlling, and reporting on software and hardware lifecycles
  • Manage endpoint hardening standards within company standards
  • Manage endpoint encryption
  • Assist with creating, modifying, and managing IT-related policies
  • Advanced troubleshooting and analysis of endpoint behavior including hardware, drivers, BIOS, operating system, productivity software, browsers, and local and global policy
  • Perform routine system or user administrative tasks such as system specification changes or the addition, change, or deletion of employees on the company’s various systems and networks; ensure necessary documentation is attained and properly authorized for such requests; originate and maintain system and user files
  • Participate as a member of the company’s incident response team in the event of a technology emergency or breach in confidential information
  • Work with vendors and various outside professional information technology organizations in the maintenance and purchase of endpoint equipment, software, and accessories; negotiate pricing
  • Manage assigned special projects
  • Respond to inquiries and refer issues to the appropriate department or person and exhibit the necessary follow through with customers and/or staff involved; manage issues from end to end, ensuring necessary action is delegated to appropriate team members as well as follow up to ensure resolution
  • Ensure compliance with the company’s policies and procedures, as well as all U.S. state and federal laws and regulations wherein the company operates

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related field of study
  • Minimum of five (5) years of technical experience in information resources, products, or services
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience configuring and using Ivanti Endpoint Management for software deployment, patch management, and imaging
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience configuring and using Ivanti Security Controls for patch management on Windows servers
  • Experience with AD Group Policies
  • Experience with Microsoft BitLocker
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 Admin Center including the assignment and management of M365/O365 licensing
  • Experience with Exchange Admin Center and working knowledge of email administration and troubleshooting

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related field of study
  • Ivanti Imaging experience
