Overview

Job Summary:

The Sr. Communications Specialist plays a critical role in helping Allegis Group employees understand company strategy, goals and objectives through effective communication that informs, inspires and motivates employees. To be successful in the role, the Sr. Communications Specialist needs to demonstrate the following attributes: • Passion for the art and science of communication• Intellectual curiosity around a variety of subjects• Flexibility to evolve skillset and capability within a dynamic environment• Strong interpersonal skills within a diverse client base

As a member of the Internal Communications team, the Sr. Communications Specialist provides support for executive stakeholders while also executing organizational and functional strategic communication agendas. This role collaborates closely with internal teams, senior management, and our Operating Company partners to formulate and deliver dynamic written messages for a variety of internal audiences and channels that supports the company’s mission, strategy and culture.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

• Partner with/own executive stakeholders (including executive directors and above), acting as an advisor to create, execute and manage communication strategies, messages and planning that drive the organizational charter highlighting the risks and benefits associated with proposed strategies and tactical responses.

• Work with partners to take big picture visions/ideas and develop specific communication plans or strategies to ensure smooth implementation of stated strategy and business priorities in addition to leading communication efforts on initiatives and projects to create awareness of the business value of select department strategic initiatives.

• Plan and execute communication strategies for organizational changes, crisis communication, people strategy and events as well as leadership meetings, executive staff calls and follow up.

• Create, maintain and execute a communications operating rhythm to ensure the right balance between proactive and reactive work

• Design, develop and edit content for internal communication channels including presentations, talking points, emails, fact sheets, e-news, digital signage, the intranet and internal social media channels to achieve specific communication objectives that directly tie to and/or align with business priorities and objectives.

• Interview and frame stories to incorporate the organization’s goals, strategies and interests. Manage editing process to produce stories that are well researched, accurate and free of errors.

• Gather and summarize employee feedback on communication effectiveness to ensure communication strategies and efforts effectively drive business strategy, priorities and goals; solicit feedback after key communication events and share with executive stakeholders as appropriate. and use feedback to influence and make recommendations around identified areas of improvement.

• Develop, drive and maintain news content for the intranet; serve as the point person and subject matter expert for other intranet content owners.

• Serve a key role in the planning and development of communication strategy for organizational changes, planned organizational events and critical events across the Allegis Group enterprise.

• Design and produce graphic art and visual materials including video to support communication events and presentations.

Budget Responsibility:

Coordinate with Director of Communication to ensure any costs are in line with budget allocations.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and/or Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree; communication-related major preferred.

• 5 years of work experience; must be able to showcase communications-related skills and knowledge.

Skills/Abilities:

• Excellent writing, editing and proofing skills and a passion for the art and science of communication.

• Outstanding interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively in a team environment, handle internal clients with tact and diplomacy, and maintain composure and production quality under deadline pressure.

• Experience partnering on communication initiatives with senior level executives.

• Skilled listener who possesses an expertise to take big picture visions/ideas and develop a specific communication plan or strategy and able to execute said strategy and monitor success.

• Ability to think strategically and execute tactically; able to dissect complex business information, and effectively translate key messages into readable, understandable, digestible information and disseminate it to the right audiences through the best distribution channels.

• A passion to use feedback and employee insight to develop key messages and influence decisions.

• Ability to serve as a unifying force to position communication discussions at both the strategic and tactical levels.

• Self-starter, able to multitask and maintain high performance under extreme pressure in fast-paced environment that values creative thinking, problem solving, candor, reliability, accountability, and an uncanny ability to exude confidence and a calm nature.

• Strong attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

• Strong understanding of social media messaging and platforms.

• Technology savvy with proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint; experience using web content management software ideal and an interest to seek out and learn new apps, platforms and vehicles to enhance communication efforts.

• Candidates should be prepared with at least two business writing samples (1 page in length) – examples of strategic communication plans are preferred.
