Overview

Data fuels our business. To derive insights from data, it must be “good”.

The Data Governance team within Allegis Group Information Services (IS) is responsible for developing and maturing the policies, processes and procedures that ensure data shared across the organization is accurate, of high-quality, and easily and readily accessible to the appropriate parties. 

The Data Governance Analyst will support our ongoing journey to “good” data – that is, efforts that seek to ensure Allegis has the right, high quality data that is critical for making management decisions, enabling corporate strategies, and meeting regulatory expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and document critical business data flows
  • Collect, analyze, and understand data from multiple internal and external sources
  • Research and document the business glossary, data catalog, and metadata as it pertains to business value streams
  • Research and document best practices around data controls and data quality, which will ensure data delivery is fit for purpose within the business line or for assigned system of record or business process(s)
  • Support Enterprise Data Governance policies that enable compliance with regulatory expectations
  • Facilitate and collaborate with technical and business owners ensuring integrity, accuracy and quality of data used to produce business critical reports
  • Perform analysis, produce reporting, and collaborate with business lines to help deliver clear guidance on policy
  • Work closely with business stakeholders and SMEs on strategic initiatives and functional requirements
  • Work in collaboration with the organization to understand business issues, identify valuable areas of analysis and develop recommendations

Qualifications

Minumum Education and/or Experience:

REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or equivalent work experience
  • At least three years of experience performing data governance activities such as data cataloging, data profiling and writing governance policies, processes, and procedures
  • Proficient in data governance and/or data management tools such as Informatica Axon Data Governance and Enterprise Data Catalog

PREFERRED

  • Experience uncovering and understanding data governance challenges and developing best practices for metadata, data quality, and data stewardship
  • Proficient analyzing and wrangling data, particularly in a database environment using SQL
  • Proficient in tools used to analyze and visualize data such as Excel and Tableau
  • Previous exposure to regulatory reporting and risk management

The Data Governance Analyst should be a:

  • Data Enthusiast – Should be willing and able to proactively dig deep and find opportunities and recommendations for data improvements.
  • Collaborative Team Player – Will work with teams and collaborate with product owners, business and technical stakeholders in an agile fashion to understand key business processes and application functionality in order to support translation of our customer’s system requirements.
  • Self-Starter – Should be able to work independently, gathering appropriate knowledge, resources and escalating when necessary. Should proactively seek training and learning opportunities to grow skill set.
  • Strong Communicator – Will participate in meetings and interact with IS and business partners at all levels. Strong business acumen and communication skills (verbal and written) is a must. Should be able to tell a “story” about our data.
  • Critical Thinker - Should be detail-oriented and have strong business analysis skills.
