- Scheduling and dispatching drivers, work crews, vehicles, or equipment to appropriate locations according to schedules, customer requests, or immediate needs.
- Relaying information to and from drivers, or work crews.
- Preparing daily work schedules.
- Answer phones and conduct themselves in a professional and businesslike manner to our customers, CSRs, warehousemen, and upper management.
- Must share and communicate information to Transportation Supervisor at all times.
- Preparing dispatch documents such as BOL, Manifests, and Labels required for each load.
- Monday - Friday and will be on-call rotating weekends.
- Must be able to work and stay productive in an unsupervised environment.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with others under any type of condition.
- Must be able to read, count accurately, write legibly, answer phones in a friendly manner, multi-task, ability to match the driver with load to ensure fast and accurate deliveries, confidence to route and dispatch drivers, good memory and problem-solving skills
- Must be capable of sitting and talking on the phone for extended amounts of time
- Ability to follow directions and give directions
- Ability to deal with and sympathize with varying personalities
- High school diploma or GED.
- 2-3 years of experience as a truck dispatcher in a similar industry (preferred).
- Ability to schedule drivers, plan routes, and dispatch drivers to customer locations.
- Proficiency in office software, including Microsoft Excel, and Outlook (preferred).
- Ability to monitor drivers’ logs, truck maintenance schedules, and repairs.
- Knowledge of applicable transportation regulations and laws.
