About This Position

As a Sous Chef in our kitchen, you will:

  • be responsible for culinary preparation of Restaurant menu items to established standards of presentation, recipe cards, costing and consistency in all foods.
  • assist in the training and supervision of kitchen staff and delegate breaks as required.
  • work with the chef team on sanitation standards in kitchen, storeroom organization, assists with the control of food and labor cost.
  • ensure positive relations between front and back of house staff.
  • manage and maintain standards for food presentation, culinary prep, cleanliness and sanitation.
  • work with the Executive Chef and FOH management on all areas of guest satisfaction.
  • assign kitchen duties.
  • maintain a healthy team player atmosphere by leading with kindness, patience, and strong culinary skills.
  • communicate with the Chef team regarding any performance issues encountered in the Culinary team.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • 5 years experience in a high-end commercial kitchen
  • 2 years leadership/management
  • Strong administrative skills, preferred
  • Culinary school background, preferred
  • Familiarity with local suppliers and regional ingredients, a plus
  • Whole fish butchery
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, English language (read and write), and math
  • Possess or obtain a valid WA Food Handler Card, required within 14 days of hire
  • Flexibility in schedule

  • Work habits: Ability to work independently, autonomously and without supervision, while also able to follow written and verbal instructions when necessary. Able to work long hours and additional hours if necessary. Team-oriented.
