Position Summary

The Senior Network Administrator is accountable for driving results in a fast-paced environment by ensuring the stability and integrity of in-house voice, data, video and wireless network services. This is achieved by managing local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs) across the organization. The Senior Network Administrator will be responsible for service and support of LANs, WANs, routers, switches, firewalls, wireless solutions, etc. within the infrastructure of multiple locations. The ideal candidate will work with other staff to assist with coordination of LAN/WAN related issues and activities, monitor performance and troubleshoot the overall network. The role will also participate as a local technical resource in systems projects involving data center/network activities and be responsible to assist in the support of the end user community. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of core networking concepts, network monitoring, troubleshooting and demonstrable experience with meeting deadlines while handling multiple projects concurrently.  Essential Functions

• Creates and maintains documentation as it relates to network configuration, network mapping, processes and service records.
• Performs network maintenance, configuration and capacity planning.
• Establishes service level agreements with end users.
• Designs and deploys company LANs, WANs and wireless networks, including servers, routers, switches, UPSs and other hardware.
• Conducts research on network products, services, protocols and standards to remain abreast of developments within the networking industry.
• Oversees new and existing equipment, hardware and software upgrades.
• Ensures that LAN/WAN configurations are compatible and consistent with the global standards of the company.
• Installs, configures and manages all network hardware and equipment, including routers, switches, wireless, and UPSs.
• Investigates and troubleshoots network problems and performs LAN/WAN communication repair during and after hours.
• Monitors and tests network performance.
• Recommends, schedules and performs network improvements, upgrades and repairs.
• Serves as a point of contact and resource for management, staff and vendors in assigned areas related to network and IS services.
• Provides server/systems support when appropriate in addition to providing helpdesk and network/desktop support.
• Assists other IT staff in implementing and designing network and system solutions.
• Assists with systems backup/restore/and offsite media storage and retention activities.
• Works with Sr. Network staff to develop local and remote network policies, assist with monitoring, updating and configuration of network.
• Ensures timely completion and compliance with cGMP and all other relevant company training requirements.

Education and Experience

• BS degree in Computer Science or related field with 5 years of experience in network administration/engineering.
•  CCNA minimum / CCNP preferred
• Experience required in the following areas:

• Configuring and maintaining Layer2/3 Switches and Routers.
• Management of network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds
• Layer 1 build outs and working with contractors for installation.
• Configuring and maintaining next generation firewalls
• Routing protocols (BGP, EIGRP, RIP, OSPF).
• Experience with VOIP systems / UCaaS
• Network Security fundamentals and concepts.
• Troubleshooting tools (tcpdump, wireshark, etc.).
• Working with Third Party Vendors such as ISP’s.
• Change Management Processes.
• Hands-on fixes at the desktop level, including installing and upgrading software, installing hardware, implementing file backups and configuring systems and applications.
