The individual will collaborate within their team but will also be a strong voice within the IT community, working across many IT teams and Business partners. The individual will develop complex solutions as well as be viewed as a thought leader and expert in full-stack development across the IT community.

Job Responsibilities:

• Designs, develops, implements, and troubleshoots complex, multi-tiered solutions across multiple technical stacks.
• Acts as a hands-on technical expert within the technologies used to support respective business application(s) as well as across the IT community, being involved at all phases, from design, development and deployment.
• Demonstrates robust technical knowledge, working with architecture and security to develop and deploy solutions that align with Selective's application development framework and standards. 
• A proponent of change, including continuous improvement, in all areas within our standards, recommending changes.
• Provides comprehensive consultation to architects and IT management at the highest technical level on all phases of the project development life cycle.
• Communicates effectively to different audiences, including IT stakeholders, architects, senior leadership, quality assurance, and developers.
• The ability to work with vendors and vendor off-the-shelf (COTS) products.
• Proactively identify opportunities and carry out work to modernize existing application technologies.
• Continually looks for opportunities to improve developer productivity and the overall change management process.
• Recommends and provides guidance on application performance and tuning enhancements.
• Researches and evaluates alternative solutions and recommends the most efficient and cost-effective solutions for the systems design. Participates in setting technical direction in partnership with the architecture, database, and infrastructure groups.

Job Qualifications:

• College degree in related field or work equivalent.
• Expertise in full-stack software application development.
• Considerable experience developing and supporting enterprise web applications including a deep understanding of C#, client-side frameworks, .Net, REST APIs, package management, DevOps, service integration, UML modeling, SQL Server and modern development patterns.
• Requires excellent communication skills, analytical thinking, strong judgement and the ability to work directly with a variety of stakeholders from business partners to IT management and peers.
• Ability to move quickly between shifting priorities and multiple projects.
• Exposure to monitoring, logging, and debugging tools.
• Experience with Vendor off-the-shelf, SaaS and Cloud software is preferred
• SAFe/Agile work experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of asset, incident, change and problem management (ITIL) is preferred
• Familiarity with Site Reliability Engineering concepts is a plus.
