The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) has a potential need for an Information Technology Specialist,  to provide technical services for uniform, consistent, high-quality animal husbandry, and technical support services by utilizing experienced and well-trained staff, preferably certified by the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS). in support of approved protocols for animal studies. Support is to be provided out of Silver Springs, Maryland. 

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

• The Information Specialist will report directly to the Contract Manager but will occasionally receive guidance and input from the Chief Animal Resources Section, Chief/Deputy Chief of the Comparative Medicine Branch, and other on-site Government personnel.

REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

• Formal education must include a minimum of a B.S. degree in computer sciences.
• Formal education may be substituted for experience and extensive experience may be substituted for formal education with approval from the COR.
• Certification by the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science is not mandatory.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Knowledge of computer hard and software, program development, Sirius, Microsoft WORD, and Excel are essential for job performance. Evaluate programs and make recommendations for the purchase of hardware and software applications.

REQUIRED CITIZENSHIP AND CLEARANCE:

• Must pass a favorable background clearance.
