Aktiv Pharma Group is Hiring a Chief Operating Officer Near Broomfield, CO

Aktiv Pharma Group is a fast-growing company focused on addressing unmet medical needs through a proprietary drug delivery system. We are currently hiring for a Chief Operating Officer.

The COO is a member of Aktiv’s leadership team representing the company internally and externally, and will be an ambassador of the company’s culture, values, and operating agreements.

The COO will be responsible for the company’s commercial manufacturing operations, facilities, transfer of new products from R&D to manufacturing and planning and executing the company’s growth plan and vision. The COO will work hand-in-hand with the CEO and translate the CEO’s vision, strategic plan, objectives and priorities into the company’s plans. The COO will lead the organization’s transition from a clinical phase startup to a commercial pharmaceutical enterprise with a sound financial plan and effective operations in a specialty pharma mode, and as a CDMO.

The compensation range for the COO is $200,000 - $250,000 annually.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Assist executive leadership team in creating, growing and building a world class, industry leading organization.
  • Partner with the CFO to achieve favorable financial results with respect to sales, profitability, cash flow, mergers and acquisitions, systems, reporting and controls.
  • Lead an effective manufacturing organization, prepare, and execute growth and improvement plans.
  • Provide leadership to the operations team:
    • Provide focus and prioritization, and consistency to drive results
    • Define responsibilities and create accountability
    • Establish organizational clarity – instill effective communicating
    • Identify and remove obstacles for the team’s success
    • Instill the importance of quality and continuous improvement
  • Set challenging and realistic goals for growth, performance and profitability.
  • Create effective measurement tools to gauge the efficiency and effectiveness of internal and external processes.
  • Provide accurate and timely reports outlining the operational condition of the company.
  • Act as a partner and counterpart to the VP Quality and Regulatory to effectively develop and implement the company’s quality system.
  • Act as a partner and counterpart to the CTO to support and facilitate new products development and transition of those to commercial stage
  • Actively contribute to enhancing the company’s culture and adherence to its values of truth, perseverance, caring and goodness; and to the company’s diversity, equity, and inclusivity aspirations, and encouraging leadership across the organization
  • Immediate projects:
    • Advancing current pipeline to registration lots
    • Implementing ERP system
    • Scaleup: purchasing, installation, qualification, and commissioning of new manufacturing lines; construction of new manufacturing facilities

  • Upcoming projects:
    • Planning for second stage scaleup to meet sales forecast for 2027 including planning, integration of 4 operation sites into one, construction, equipment purchasing.

Experience and Education: 

  • Ten (10) years’ experience in executive leadership, preferably related to pharmaceutical products (preferably sterile injectables with aseptic fill experience) in a development through clinical to commercial environment.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in business or science or equivalent experience
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-to-year basis.

  • Registration to practice before USPTO is NOT required at hiring 

  • Applicants are asked to furnish two technical writing samples or adequate reason for unavailability of technical writing samples
