Description

Job Title: Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)

Location: Choice of Orlando, East Orlando, or Kissimmee, FL clinic locations

Department: Clinical

Reports To: BCBA Supervisor/Chief Clinical Director

FLSA Status: Full-Time Non-exempt and Part-Time Exempt positions available

Job purpose

The Registered Behavior Technician is responsible for assisting behavior analysts to implement behavior reduction and skill acquisition treatment plans. This position will assist patients with day to day activities, monitor their behavior, record and collect data on patients' progress, and communicate with clients. Other duties may include clerical and administrative duties.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Focus on changing the client's behavior by observing and measuring the behavior in the available environments.
  • Gather behavioral data to track progress in reaching behavioral objectives identified in the behavior plan and periodically modify the plan, under the supervision of the Behavior Analyst, to adapt to the child's response to the intervention.
  • Implement learning programs (communication, self-help, and play skills) as written and instructed by the Behavior Analyst
  • Collect data on all behaviors targeted and meet with supervisor weekly to analyze the information gathered and participate in initial and ongoing trainings.
  • Incorporate parent training when possible so family members/caregivers can teach and support skills during typical family activities.
  • Document each service activity in electronic service note.
  • Complete mandatory training and refresher training.
  • Properly report all critical incidents and safety concerns regarding persons receiving services.
  • Ensure that documentation is completed in a timely manner and in accordance with established organizational procedures.
  • Participate in staff meetings as directed by the Chief Clinical Director, Chief Operations Director, or Assistant Operations Director.
  • Model and promote good communication, customer service, and positive representation of the organization to clients, customers, referral sources and the public.
  • Other responsibilities as requested by the Chief Clinical Director, Chief Operations Director, or Assistant Operations Director within the scope of practice and role.

Requirements

Skills and Qualifications

  • BACB RBT Certificate required, Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in a behavioral health or related field preferred.
  • Medicaid Provider Number required.
  • Additional certification may be required.
  • Relevant experience preferred.
  • Experience with children ages 2-12 years old preferred.
  • Must be physically fit and able to lift and carry patients.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Working conditions

  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
  • Reliable transportation required for travel to and from the clinic setting.

Physical requirements

  • The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.
  • Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
  • Standing: Remaining upright on the feet, particularly for sustained periods of time.
  • Fine motor: Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with whole hand or arm as in handling.
  • Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
  • Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; those activities where detailed or important spoken instructions must be conveyed to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction and having the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and making fine discriminations in sound.
  • Repetitive motions: Making substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.

This position reports directly to an assigned BCBA supervisor under the direction of the Chief Clinical Director.
