We are looking for an Engineering Manager to join our amazing consumer development team at Airthings. You will move our technology forward, but also help your colleagues by empowering them towards continuous improvement. You will be responsible for the well-being of a few people with a similar skillset as yourself, to be expanded to more people as we grow.

We are an IoT company creating indoor air quality devices and solutions for homeowners and building managers. We are headquartered in the heart of Oslo with customers in more than 50 countries. We are 140 employees and counting, including scientists, engineers, developers, and visionaries. Airthings is on a mission to ensure people around the world take control of their air quality through simple, sustainable, and accessible technology solutions – making radon and air quality solutions an essential and universal element for every building or home.

About the software team

The software team is building next-generation services around our amazing hardware that provides insight into the indoor quality of homes and buildings. We have multiple growing, autonomous teams, working with OKRs, meaning that we set up goals for ourselves every second month to focus the teams in the coming bimester. We work agile and are continuously improving all aspects of the way we work.

Today our cloud services provide a solid platform, but we are still growing fast and need someone who is able to get the overview and keep moving us forward. We run a great ecosystem including mobile apps, web clients, smart home integrations, building management integrations, and more. We do this by having experts in software engineering for apps, cloud and web, in addition to data scientists. We use serverless technologies for hosting our code, either on Lambda or Fargate, whatever makes sense for the task at hand. We also continuously explore new technologies as we scale up our platform.

• You’re awesome with Kotlin (or similar)
• You’re a people person that’s happy to pass on the spotlight, enjoys seeing people grow, and don’t shy away from the more difficult conversations
• You have opinions on best practices when it comes to development methodologies, testing, and code quality
• You’re able to keep stuff running in production. You build it, test it, deploy it and run it

Nice to have…

• Experience working with AWS, configured by Terraform
• Familiarity with web technologies, mobile apps, or embedded systems
