POSITION OVERVIEW for Electrical Designer

Agilitech has an excellent career opportunity for an Electrical Designer. Candidate works closely with engineers and other disciplines project team members to develop electrical plans, details and control panel fabrication drawings. Electrical designers also delegate work to drafters, including allocating expected hours to perform the work, explaining the work, and checking the quality of the drafting performed.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES for Electrical Designer

Implement Agilitech project standards, policies, and procedures to successfully execute all job duties

  • Creates entire project package for medium-large projects
  • QA drafting and design projects
  • Tracks progress job tasks from estimated hours standpoint
  • Interface with client to resolve technical requirements
  • Specify equipment using vendor catalog information
  • Back check drafting work
  • Travel to field locations, take pictures, measurements, develop sketches, and as-built engineering documentation/drawings
  • Conduct site visits to assess site conditions and determine tie-in points
  • Creates an MCC elevation based on the one-line diagram
  • Creates a switch rack elevation based on the one-line diagram
  • Creates an Area Classification plan and select the required details
  • Creates a Grounding plan and select the required details
  • Creates a conduit routing plan and determine if above ground, below ground or cable tray is the best option
  • Creates a conduit and cable schedule with the “to” “from” and number of conductors required
  • Performs Conduit fill calculations to size conduits
  • Creates a cable tray plan including details and BOM
  • Creates a panel layout based on instrument list including BOM
  • Creates panel power distribution based on panel layout
  • Creates I/O wiring diagrams based on the panel layout and I/O list
  • Creates system architecture diagram and specify communication equipment
  • Run lighting calculations
  • Prepares detail drawing from preliminary sketches and layouts supplied by engineers and lead designers
  • Prepares layout, detail and sketch drawings of unusual, complex, or original designs requiring the application of practical design knowledge
  • Review fabricator and vendor data for conformance with contract specifications, installation parameters, applicable codes and classifications
  • Interact with and support Project Mangers/Coordinators, Mechanical and Electrical design leads as required
  • Provide documentation manuals to assist electrical workers during repair or installation. 
  • Check that final technical drafts include all relevant information in an easy-to-read format, and verify that calculations, measurements and units are accurate based on initial design information from engineers/lead designer.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS for  Electrical Designer 

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • College or trade school level drafting classes/training.
  • BA in Industrial Technology or equivalent. (preferred, not required)
  • Proficient with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of electrical circuitry and design.
  • 5 years job experience or equivalent.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
