Overview:

The Accounting Manager provides support to and is a critical part of the organization’s accounting department. This position will manage the departmental day-to-day operations, overseeing organizational systems for gathering data, analyzing information, confirming the accuracy of their staff’s reports and provide recommendations for improving processes and optimizing accounting systems. The Accounting Manager will be responsible for understanding all types of financial operations within Agfinity and assist in the implementation of departmental and financial initiatives.

Essential Duties:

• Management of accounting and clerical staff; ensuring best practices.
• Review accounting policies and procedures, make recommendation for improvements Review accounting procedures and policies to ensure there is a consistent method for handling the processes, and regularly follow up to provide updates, improvements, and training.
• Apply GAAP knowledge to include cash, receivables, inventory, fixed assets, payables, and equity
• Use experience with IT system implementations for optimizing projects.

Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required
• CPA preferred

Experience:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting management
• Previous inventory/manufacturing experience preferred
• Previous experience in agriculture industry preferred
• Preference will be given to candidates working for a public accounting firm.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of applicable local, states’, and federal government reporting requirements.
• Knowledge of customer service practices and providing superior service to the organization, its customers, and vendors.
• Knowledge of general accounting principles and concepts
• Knowledge of how things operate within accounting systems
• including advanced query skills facilitating timely and accurate data extraction
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge on GAAP and coop accounting
• Strong communication skills for communicating with departmental staff, internal and external customers and vendors.
• Solid analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on being detail orientated
• Ability to work in a dynamic environment
• Ability to prioritize projects, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines (time management) on an individual and departmental basis
• Strong organizational skills
• Strong customer service skills
